Danny Tabs of Klein on Life, Lessons & Legacy

Danny Tabs shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Danny, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: Are you walking a path—or wandering?
For a long time in my life, I was wandering. While I was trying to find my place in the world, I struggled to find a purpose that would fulfil me personally, and one that would contribute to society in a meaningful way. I truly believe there is a bright side to misfortune. In my case, during one of the lowest points in my life I had to get creative and just start doing something that really made me happy, and that would give back to the community around me. I am proud to say I am now walking a path that I can fully see, both personally and professionally.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Danny and I run streetcouchentertainment.com. Street Couch Entertainment is a brand that I’ve been working on for nearly a decade now. It focuses on the creative talent that Houston has to offer and gives those people a platform to speak their mind. It’s unique because while the main focus of the brand is podcast production, it also specializes in video and audio production, as well as Photoshop and web design services. Street Couch Entertainment strives to be as inclusive as possible. While the majority of collaborators happen to be musical artists, we offer our platform to people of any profession or background. We have collaborated with professionals in the medical field, the armed forces, and even athletes. Our main focus is The Street Couch Podcast, which is where we invite anyone to be a guest on. The podcast is available on our website, as well as on YouTube. Short-form content is also created from these podcast episodes and posted as reels on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who taught you the most about work?
My dad has taught me the most about work and still continues to do so to this day. I also work for my dad’s pool service business and the way he works is very inspirational to me and pushes me to work harder and remember why I am working hard for: to take care of myself and provide a stable foundation for my future.

What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
The biggest defining wound of my life would have to be when I ran out of money, maxed out my credit cards, lost my apartment and my relationship, and dropped out of university all in the span of just a few months. After all of that happened I immediately turn to my best friend, my family, and to my love for playing music. All of that happened about 3 years ago and to this day those things continue to be part of my healing journey.

Self-care and education have also been a huge part of my healing process. Going to the doctor, getting therapy, going to the library, researching how to improve certain aspects of my life, and going to school have all really helped me as well.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
Short answer is no.
The real me struggles with negativity and emotions, but also there’s a lot of work I put in my daily life that I don’t show on social media. I like to keep my personal relationships and daily life private from the public eye because I really value my privacy.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What will you regret not doing?
I would regret not doing what makes me happy.
