We recently had the chance to connect with Carletta Brantley and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Carletta, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: Are you walking a path—or wandering?
I believe I’m walking a path that God has specifically designed for me. Fortunately, I found my path early in life and that has guided my steps. Like many I do find myself wandering at times, especially when things seem to be moving slow or they don’t go as expected. However being able to reflect upon and lean on the vision God’s given to me, anchors me and helps me refocus.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Carletta Brantley, a Houston, Tx native. I’m a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. In 2022 I graduated from Southern University Law Center with my law degree. During law school I began content creating which focused on my law school experience. After graduating I moved back to Houston and took a break from content creating. During this time I became a teacher while preparing to take the BAR Exam and start my legal career. After two years of teaching, I was presented with the opportunity of joining the Law Office of Jas Jordan, P.L.L.C. where I now serve as the Prelitigation Department Manager.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who taught you the most about work?
My parents have been a heavy influence on my work ethic. Watching both my mom and dad put in the time, energy, and love to support myself and my siblings has inspired me to one day do the same for my future children.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
After not passing the BAR Exam on the first try I thought all hope was lost. I felt defeated and left behind compared to others. Then one day I saw the blessing in my delay. Suffering teaches resilience, it challenges you to keep going even when you believe you can’t, unlike with success which teaches you to bask in glory. You learn how to find and create happiness even when it seems like there’s nothing to celebrate.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would say authenticity, loyalty, and love are the things that matter to me most. It’s not about “clout” or money for me. I cherish realness above all.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
Money and success aren’t everything. Those are things that we want to create the ideal lifestyle but without God, family, and friends you’ll never really be able to enjoy the material things that come with money and success.
