Léne Baggett shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Good morning Léne, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What is a normal day like for you right now?
Currently managing 2 jobs, 3 kids (one college age & 2 elementary age) & keeping a social life as well as ensuring my husband and I still get a date night every other week at least! Every hour is thought out to a T in my life!
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am Léne, owner, baker, dishwasher, organizer, lone customer service representative for LSB Baking Creations! I started baking for the GOOF (that’s Garden Oaks/Oak Forest Community) during the COVID pandemic, and I haven’t stopped since. The community has been so supportive since day one! My specialty is custom American buttercream design on cakes & cupcakes with as little fondant work as possible.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who taught you the most about work?
I’d like to say my mother. After her separation from my father, she worked really hard to land back on her feet as a single mother supporting 2 children. I am always reminded of her perseverance when I am struggling to even just start the day.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
That you have to keep moving. There is no choice! You will continue to suffer if you don’t TRY to move forward.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Family and those who I choose as family. Many of whom I call family are not my blood. I am a true believer in the village is who you make of it. That village is your family. Those are the ones who see you through your darkest times. Those are the ones who matter.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I believe my cottage bakery is on my journey of what I was born to do. It gives me too much joy to not be meant for me. Even if not forever, I truly believe I am meant to do it now.
