Story & Lesson Highlights with Inez Arevalo of Houston, Pearland, Friendswood

We recently had the chance to connect with Inez Arevalo and have shared our conversation below.

Good morning Inez, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
Monday through Saturday I am working and review the cleaning day schedule and communicate with the staff on any notes for the homes.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I own A Cleaning to Remember, we specialize in residential cleanings Monday through Saturday. We pride ourselves in being thorough and affordable.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
It was my husband’s idea to start A Cleaning to Remember when the cleaning companies we hired for our home did not clean thoroughly. I was skeptical at first of starting a business but he encouraged me all the way through the process.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
When the COVID pandemic started, we were unsure how it would affect A Cleaning to Remember. We did lose clients the first week but managed to hold on. We started using only EPA recommended products, masks and cover shoes in homes to keep clients and our staff safe.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Where are smart people getting it totally wrong today?
Since the COVID pandemic, clients in all fields have been hesistant to spend and watch their budgets closer. I feel in our field of cleaning, we have to understand when there are good and bad financial moments for the economy in general and work with that. Example – when we notice many are losing employment, gas & grocery prices are increasing, we do not increase our prices. A Cleaning to Remember offers affordable cleanings and we provide FREE oven or inside fridge cleanings for example to keep our current clients and obtain new ones.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I feel I was born to have a business. I started with a thought that I had to work in an office setting for a company and that’s how I was raised. I was not raised in an entrepreneurial environment. A Cleaning to Remember was started literally overnight.
