Conversations with Shanita Jeffery

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shanita Jeffery.

Hi Shanita, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey has not been easy. In the beginning, I didn’t fully understand the Kingdom or the power and authority God had already given me. Because of that, I struggled for years with my identity, my purpose, and my direction. Yet even in the middle of my confusion, God never let me go. He patiently taught me—step by step—how to see myself the way He sees me.

What kept me going was a deep hunger for His presence. Even when I didn’t have the answers, prayer became my lifeline. I found myself interceding for others, standing in the gap, and crying out for breakthrough. And little by little, God began to place a mantle of deliverance, healing, and empowerment on my life.

When I stepped into ministry, it was like entering a whole new world. I didn’t always know how to navigate it, but I knew one thing: I could never turn back. Now, after 15 years of walking with God, I am still growing, still learning, and still striving each day—not for perfection in my own strength, but to allow His perfection to shine through me.

Then, in 2021, during a season of pressing prayer and fasting, God spoke a word that shifted the entire course of my life and ministry: “Set It Off.” At first, I laughed and said, “Okay God… I will set it off.” I didn’t realize in that moment how heavy and powerful that assignment would be.

The Holy Spirit began to reveal that the body of Christ was still bound in chains—chains of fear, rejection, delay, abandonment, and oppression. And He made it clear: it was time to break them. This wasn’t to be just another conference. God told me these would be encounters—moments where the heavens would open, prophetic voices would converge, and people would leave not only encouraged, but activated in their Kingdom assignments.

From the very beginning, I knew this vision couldn’t be about me alone. God placed a determination in my heart to gather other gifts, leaders, and voices—to defy the odds and prove that His people can come together in unity. That’s what Set It Off was birthed to do: to break barriers, destroy division, and create an atmosphere where God’s glory is revealed and His people are set free to walk fully in their calling.

Since then, I have been carrying these encounters from state to state, watching God move in powerful ways and transform lives everywhere we go. But my heart doesn’t stop there—I carry the desire to take Set It Off internationally, to see nations impacted, and to watch God’s Kingdom advance across the world.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, my journey has not been easy. Answering the call of God comes with a price, and for me that price has often looked like intense warfare. The enemy doesn’t fight what doesn’t have purpose, and from the moment I said “yes” to God’s assignment, the battles began. I’ve faced spiritual attacks, resistance from people, and moments where it felt like everything around me was being shaken.

There were seasons of heavy opposition—times when I had to push through discouragement, betrayal, and even my own doubts. It hasn’t been a smooth path, but every battle has taught me how to fight on my knees even more. Through prayer, I’ve learned that warfare is not a sign of failure, but confirmation that I am moving in the right direction.

The road has been rough, but the warfare has only strengthened my faith, sharpened my vision, and prepared me to carry the assignment God placed on my life.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Set It Off is more than an event—it’s a Kingdom movement. What started as a vision from God in 2021 has grown into a series of encounters designed to break chains, activate purpose, and empower people to walk boldly in their Kingdom assignments. I don’t just host encounters; atmospheres are created where the presence of God is tangible, healing flows, and lives are transformed.

I love bringing together diverse voices—prophets, pastors, worship leaders, entrepreneurs, and community builders—to minister as one. What sets us apart is that we are not focused on titles or platforms; we are focused on unity and impact. Set It Off is known for tackling real issues—fear, rejection, delay, oppression—while also empowering people in faith, family, and business.

Brand-wise, I am most proud that Set It Off has remained true to its mandate: to break barriers and destroy division. Every encounter feels unique, yet the impact is consistent people leave changed, encouraged, and ready to step into their assignments.

I want readers to know that Set It Off is not limited to one city or one type of gathering. We’ve taken it from state to state, and my vision is to carry it internationally. Our services include worship encounters, panel discussions, prophetic ministry, leadership development, and empowerment sessions for entrepreneurs and families. At its core, Set It Off is about transformation—spiritual, emotional, and physical.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I like best about Houston is the way the city comes together when it really matters. When there’s a need, a crisis, or an opportunity to support one another, Houston has a way of putting differences aside and uniting for the greater good. That sense of resilience, diversity, and community spirit is what makes this city so special.

What I like least about Houston is that sometimes we don’t carry that same spirit of unity outside of critical moments. Too often, competition, personal agendas, or differences get in the way of what could be powerful collaborations. If we could move past competing with one another and truly come together, we could accomplish so much more as a city.
