Meet Lindarose Amuzie Onyemaeke of Healing Light Healthcare Services

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindarose Amuzie Onyemaeke.

Hi Lindarose, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Thank you so much for the opportunity to share my story with Voyage Houston. My journey has been one of persistence, faith, and hard work.

I started my career in healthcare as a nursing assistant in Chicago, which gave me my first real exposure to patient care. From there, I advanced to become a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)—called a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) here in Texas—while also pursuing my bachelor’s degree. Balancing work, school, and personal responsibilities during that time was extremely challenging, but I remained focused on my ultimate goal of becoming a nurse practitioner.

Over the years, I gained extensive experience working as a nurse in a variety of clinical settings, including medical-surgical units, surgical centers, telemetry (cardiac), step-down, ER, and ICU. The hospital shifts were demanding, but they gave me the flexibility I needed to pursue my master’s degree, which I completed in 2017 to become a nurse practitioner.

Breaking into the nurse practitioner market at that time was tough, as the field was oversaturated. Despite having my credentials, I initially couldn’t find a position. Instead of giving up, I took an unconventional route—I volunteered in an urgent care clinic once or twice a week, unpaid, while continuing to work full-time as a nurse. The supervising doctor and nurse practitioner there allowed me to practice independently under their guidance, which built both my confidence and my skills. That eight-month experience turned out to be pivotal, opening doors to future opportunities as a nurse practitioner.

Since then, I have worked in a wide range of settings, including outpatient clinics, correctional healthcare, urgent care, freestanding emergency rooms, and telehealth. Each role shaped me and gave me a broader understanding of patient care.

Ultimately, my passion and experiences led me to entrepreneurship. A little over a year ago, I founded Healing Light Healthcare Services. We began with a focus on weight loss but quickly expanded into urgent care services, driven by the needs of our community. Today, Healing Light is both a telehealth company and an appointment-based clinic, serving patients of all ages—from children to older adults.

Looking back, every setback, challenge, and sacrifice helped prepare me for this moment. I’m proud to be the CEO of Healing Light Healthcare Services, and I’m excited about the impact we’re making in our community.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. I always say, Rome wasn’t built in a day—or even a year. My journey has been tough, but persistence, faith, prayer, and the support of others have carried me through.

One of my biggest challenges was breaking into the nurse practitioner field. At first, I couldn’t land a position, and I had to work unpaid at an urgent care just to gain experience. That season was both difficult and humbling. Even when I finally started working as a nurse practitioner, I often questioned myself—wondering if I was truly providing the best care possible. What kept me grounded was constantly researching, staying updated on evidence-based practices, and never being afraid to learn more.

Starting my business also came with its share of ups and downs. Entrepreneurship requires resilience, and there were moments of doubt. But keeping my goals in sight, pushing forward, and maintaining strong connections with people has helped me overcome those challenges.

It hasn’t been easy, but persistence and hard work have brought me to where I am today.

As you know, we’re big fans of Healing light healthcare Services. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Healing Light Healthcare Services is a telehealth and appointment-based clinic dedicated to making quality care accessible for everyone. We started with a focus on weight loss and have since expanded into urgent care and wound care services. Whether you’re insured, underinsured, or uninsured, we will always work with you—because we believe every patient deserves compassionate, reliable care.

Our weight loss program is rooted in transparency and evidence-based practices. We guide patients not only through treatment but also lifestyle changes and long-term maintenance plans, helping them achieve lasting results. In addition, we provide convenient urgent care visits—by phone, video, or in-person—and advanced wound care services, including in-home visits when needed.

What sets us apart is our personal approach. At Healing Light, we treat patients like family. We are committed to honesty, compassion, and holistic care that meets people where they are. Our mission is simple: to bring outstanding healthcare to everyone, regardless of background or circumstance.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
If you have a true passion or a deep desire to do something, my advice is simple: go for it. You’ll never know if you can succeed until you try. It’s better to take that step and learn from the experience than to live with the regret of never trying at all. If you find yourself having sleepless nights thinking about an idea or a business you want to start, that’s a sign—it’s worth pursuing.

That said, starting a business is not easy. It requires hard work, sacrifice, and time. There will be sleepless nights, moments of frustration, and even times you may break down emotionally. But those challenges make the journey worthwhile in the end.

One thing I wish I had known early on is how limited true mentorship can be. There aren’t many people willing to walk alongside you step by step. Most of the time, you’ll need to figure things out on your own through research, trial, and error. Sometimes your first attempt won’t work, maybe even your second—but persistence pays off, and eventually something will click.

So my advice is this: be willing to try, embrace the setbacks as lessons, and never be afraid to start again. Every failure brings you closer to success.
