Hi Tawana, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What do you think others are secretly struggling with—but never say?
Burnout, definitely! I believe that a large amount of burnout stems from trying to do it all despite the physical fatigue or the mental drain. It’s like running on autopilot.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
With a deep passion for celebrating and empowering black business, Tawana serves as the Chief Operating Officer of Sweettooth Cheesecakes. Outside of her role as COO, Tawana remains actively engaged in business marketing and content creation, attending industry events, and continuously expanding her knowledge to stay at the forefront of business trends and innovations.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
I used to believe that I could plan everything out and it would just naturally fall into place. As I got older, I realized that perfect timing doesn’t exist. Plans should change, never the goal.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Life is a rollercoaster ride of ups and downs, peaks and valleys. In those low moments, most feel compelled to give up. But there is where I’ve learned that a second attempt can manifest a new outcome. Winners fail until they succeed.

What matters most is how I use and spend my time. Life is too short to wake up with regrets! I stopped spending time watching people live their lives and more time enjoying my own.

Can you believe, I’m experiencing that level of excitement currently. As COO of Sweettoooth Cheesecakes; planting the seed and watching it grow is satisfying in itself.
