Story & Lesson Highlights with Mr. Reginald Davis of GREATER HOUSTON

We recently had the chance to connect with Mr. Reginald Davis and have shared our conversation below.

Reginald , a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
The most recent memory as of now has to be the time I spent on tour with Dom Kennedy. I learned so much around my peers and met some memorable people along the way. I was exceptionally proud of Brodie Fresh and Casey Veggies. The way we maintained the crowd and gave memorable performances to sold out shows around the country was monumental. I felt like a proud brother to see my fellow brothers come together and do something we are passionate about!

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Well to start off I go by DJ Reggie Banard, My close friends refer to me as “Reggie B” , to my family Reginald but to my kids I’m simply Dad.
First and foremost I’m a Child Of God. I’m a multi faceted creator, entrepreneur, philanthropist, Engineer and all around gem but my passion is Djing. I’ve prided myself on trying to stay as authentic to the craft as possible by practicing, studying and witnessing other prominent dj’s before me to perfect my craft. The more you study the less questions you will ask is my philosophy. My specialty with my craft derives from my knowledge and love for music. No matter what genre I encounter there is great music within all so I try to display that as much as possible when I am curating a set or simply vibing. I come from a household of 2 sibilings my brother and sister (Patrick and Monique) and a loving mother (Bessie) who has been my backbone while on my journey on this earth. I appreciate them more than ever. Growing up it was very decent but it had its challenges, but what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. As an early age I was always fascinated with the drums. I grew up in the COGIC church where I transitioned it to marching band. There I learned everything about music ends and out. My instructors (Dena steed & Cory Roberts) showed me a different side of music that progressed me further in my career. My music knowledge became more diverse from what I grew up listening to. Watching my childhood UNK (early green) dj gave me a passion to want to learn how to dj. The way the crowd moves and the way you conduct put a fire under me that I couldn’t let go out. Now fast forwarding 15 years later I’m proud to be doing something I love. DJ Reggie Banard is trademarked and now a household name. I can only thank my fans, family & friends for really believing in me while I go through my journey! It isn’t over yet, amount the tours I’ve taken with many artist, I’m now branching out and creating my own art entitled “TAKE ME 2 YOUR CITY” which is a festival for entertainment & performing arts ranging from different genres coming to a city near you starting this Fall of 2025!

Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who taught you the most about work?
Honestly my mother (Bessie Taiwo) my aunt & uncle (Clyde Banks& Bertha Banks) taught me what hard work is and helped mold me into a man. I would work constantly doing all kinds of odd jobs around the house. He showed me a lot. I’ll never be able to repay him correctly for that! Also my friends parents (Paul and Patricia Menard) they taught me a lot and looked after me like their own. Love them truly for that. Showed me a lot about life and It gave me my work ethic today.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
If I seen my younger self I would tell him take those risk. The reward is greater when you go after your passions. Dont focus on what you can’t change just change the narrative in your favor. Believe in yourself. Don’t become complacent. Speak up for yourself more. Most importantly never give up!

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
My ethnic culture of course. I pride myself on being an African American. I love how my based group set trends & create things that make this world greater!

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
Mainly that I was a great person to them. I would wish that my people celebrated me correctly. I pray they will tell them stories that can make you smile and reminisce about the positive impact that I’ve had on each and every person. I don’t want to be the most famous but the most respected in a remarkable way!
