Hi Sonia, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
After spending over 20 years working with a Farmers Insurance agent, I discovered a deep passion for helping people protect what matters most—whether it’s their home, car, business, or family. The insurance industry has always been more than just a job to me—it’s a way to build relationships, provide peace of mind, and be a trusted resource in my community.
In 2022, I decided it was time to take the next step. With years of experience under my belt and a vision for something of my own, I launched my own agency. What made the journey even more special was joining forces with my daughter, Elizabeth Tamayo, who also worked with the same Farmers Insurance agent for several years. Together, we chose to build a family-owned, mother-daughter business rooted in trust, service, and shared values.
As a proud Hispanic family, our culture, strong work ethic, and commitment to community are at the heart of everything we do. Starting this business was inspired not just by our experience, but by the desire to create something meaningful for our family and those we serve.
We’re not just another insurance agency—we’re a team that genuinely cares, bringing decades of combined experience to provide honest, reliable service to every client who walks through our doors.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Like any new business venture, the road hasn’t always been smooth—but every challenge has made us stronger and more committed to our purpose. Starting any company comes with its fair share of difficulties—from navigating licenses and regulations to building a client base and establishing a name in the community. But we knew what we were getting into, and we leaned into our experience and passion to keep moving forward.
Launching the agency after COVID brought its own unique challenges. The pandemic had a lasting impact on the insurance industry—shifting client expectations, increasing the need for digital services, and creating a more competitive landscape. People began viewing insurance differently, and we had to adapt quickly to meet those changing needs. In many ways, it pushed us to be more innovative, more compassionate, and more driven.
Through it all, I’ve been incredibly blessed to have the unwavering support of my amazing husband. He believed in our vision from the very beginning and played a key role in helping us launch this company. Without his encouragement, this dream might not have become a reality.
This business is also a true testament to what it means to balance family and career. Elizabeth, my daughter and business partner, is a dedicated working mom raising young children. I’m not only her teammate in the business, but also a proud grandmother. Juggling motherhood and entrepreneurship isn’t easy, but we make it work—with love, determination, and a shared goal of building something lasting for our family and community.
