Rising Stars: Meet Julia Byers of Richmond TX

Today we’d like to introduce you to Julia Byers.

Hi Julia, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Meet Julia Byers:
Richmond’s Rising Country-Rock Powerhouse
At just 19 years old, Julia Byers, born in Austin, but raised in Richmond, Texas, is already carving out her place as one of the most compelling young voices in the country-rock scene. But this didn’t happen overnight—Julia has been chasing this dream since before she could talk straight. She’s been singing and performing for as long as her, or anyone around her can remember.
She devoted herself to graduating High school and year & a half early, made the decision that music is what she wanted to go wholeheartedly in for, for the rest of her life, & then fully committed to the grind.
Her journey took a serious leap when renowned Nashville vocal coach Brett Manning (Taylor Swift, Hayley Williams) took a chance on her at just 17, helping make her first trip to Nashville possible. That trip lit the fire. Julia began making regular runs to Music City, collaborating with Nashville Legend, multi-platinum producer Malcolm Springer (Matchbox Twenty, Collective Soul, and more). With no manager, no label, and nothing but pure drive, she worked multiple jobs to fund every session, every trip, every mile.
Back home, she taught herself guitar, started booking her own gigs and building her fanbase from the ground up—starting solo, then forming her own band, which now backs her on stage. From small-town bars to big-name venues like House of Blues, Discovery Green, Constellation Field, BFE Rock Club, and the Fort Bend County Fair, Julia’s reputation has only grown louder. Her sound—a whip-smart mix of sass and soul—balances tongue-in-cheek storytelling with raw, vocal-driven ballads, or Country/Rock hits that stop a room cold.
Now, after knocking on every door—and kicking a few down— major Nashville record labels have taken notice, and a signing imminent, Julia shows no signs of slowing down. She’s heading back to Nashville this fall to continue working on her debut record—and fans won’t have to wait long. Her breakout single, “Insane Train,” is slated for release in November, followed closely by her first music video.
Julia Byers is proving that talent is just the beginning—grit, grind, and guts go a long way. Keep your eyes on her—Texas already is.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Definitely the furthest thing from smooth. This industry is incredibly cut-throat, and you’ve really got to put in the work, and want it the most.
As I am so blessed in this life, but don’t come from very much, it’s taken blood, sweat, and lots of tears to get this show on the road.
To working multiple jobs just to make my way up to Nashville, to getting told “no” more times than I do “yes”, certain things falling through last minute, facing the rejection, competition, and constant fast-paced changes of the industry, it definitely takes some thick skin, and perseverance to keep it all going.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
“The love for performing, singing, and creating music is definitely in my blood. I’d say something that is allowing me to stand out from others, is the uniqueness to my music. The country/rock world has a vast amount of iconic artists & songs, such as Miranda Lambert, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Carrie Underwood, Gretchen Wilson, Hardy, etc… and I feel like I’ve taken little bits and pieces of what I love from some of my biggest inspirations and influences, and created my own, unique sound for my music.”

“I am extremely proud of my determination and hard work that has been poured into this project. I have put my all into this, in every single area, from making sure I am the best performer, singer, & musician that I can be, to keeping consistent on my social media, to building my fanbase, and having the music to the best that it can be. But, I definitely could not do it alone… I am extremely proud, of the team that I have, and am continuing to build. My producer, my musician friends/partners in Nashville that also create with me, and my family have allowed this dream to come true for me. I am so grateful and thankful, that they believe in me, support me, and want this for me too. They have all taken risks and given me chances that have changed my life forever, and I am so proud to have them by my side.”

Julia Byers is also not your “typical” country, or rock artist… her voice is one of a kind a definitely stands out. She’s got the smooth and raw sound to her voice, but can also be edgy and gritty as it gets. Her look is also fiery & eye-catching, as she’s got heaps of red hair… which you don’t see often in this industry.

What are your plans for the future?
As I am near signing a deal, I am planning on moving out to Nashville to be there full-time to continue achieving my dream.
I am up there consistently already, back and forth between Texas and Nashville, but being there full time will allow me to work on my record more, and get it out sooner.
We’ve already got tons of amazing music that is being polished, and will be put out when ready, with music videos alongside them as well.
