We’re looking forward to introducing you to Amber Baylor. Check out our conversation below.
Hi Amber, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
I always have to start off with the Word of God. Lately, I’ve been actually thumbing through my physical Bible instead of using the Bible app, and it’s been incredibly rewarding — there’s something about turning those pages that just hits differently.
After that quiet time, I wake up my son and get him ready for school. Once he’s set, I take a 30-minute to hour-long walk to clear my mind and get my body moving. It’s become such an important rhythm in my mornings.
If I have any morning meetings, I’ll jump into those next. And somewhere in all of this — Matcha is a must! I’m not a coffee girlie, but Matcha does me just fine. It’s my little morning ritual that brings it all together.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Amber Baylor, and I’m the Principal Publicist and Owner of Motion Media & Public Relations. After spending nearly a decade in Television News, I launched Motion Media PR to stay rooted in the fast-paced world of media — this time, as a trusted liaison for local businesses, brands, and entrepreneurs who want to be seen, heard, and remembered.
Motion Media & Public Relations is a traditional PR consulting agency with a modern mindset. We specialize in securing meaningful media placements and visibility opportunities that truly move the needle. Our motto says it best: “We strive to stay ahead of the curve, and always in the news. We are here to put your brand in Motion.”
What sets me apart in this space is my firsthand experience on the other side of the newsroom. I’ve played the role of assignment editor — the gatekeeper who decides which stories make it to air and which guests get booked. That experience gives me a unique edge when pitching stories for my clients, because I know exactly what producers and editors are looking for, and more importantly, what makes them say yes.
Right now, I’m focused on growing Motion Media PR’s impact by helping more brands tell their stories with clarity, confidence, and credibility — and getting them the spotlight they deserve.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
One of my earliest and most powerful moments was when I had the opportunity to get my own clients booked at two of the television stations where I previously worked. Walking back into those newsrooms — not as an employee, but as the owner of my own PR agency — and still being welcomed, respected, and supported by my former colleagues was incredibly affirming. It was in that moment that I truly felt I was walking in my purpose, with no fear or doubt. It was more than just a full-circle moment — it was a reminder that I was exactly where I was meant to be.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
If I could say one kind thing to my younger self, it would be this:
“You don’t have to dim your light to make others comfortable. Your voice—twang and all—is a gift, not something to hide. You’re not here to fight every battle; peace is not weakness. Let your uniqueness shine, and don’t be afraid to be fully you. One day, you’ll look back and thank yourself for choosing growth over fear.”
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Oh, without a doubt—my son. He is my heart walking outside my body, my greatest blessing and motivation. Everything I do, every decision I make, somehow circles back to him. Being his mother isn’t just a title—it’s a calling, and my friends know that nothing comes before him.
And then there’s loyalty—whew, I don’t play about that. I’m the kind of person who gives my all to the people I love, and I expect that same energy back. My circle may be small, but it’s solid. I value people who show up, who stay true, and who ride for you whether the road is smooth or rough. Loyalty to me is love in action—it’s consistency, honesty, and presence.
So yeah, my friends would say I’m all heart, ride-or-die, and fiercely protective of what matters most. And they’d be right.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
When I’m gone, I hope people remember me as someone who brought light into every room I walked into—a spark of joy, laughter, and warmth that people could count on. I want them to say I was the kind of person who, no matter what life threw at me, always found a way to bounce back with grace and a smile. That I had this quiet strength—resilient, but never hardened.
I hope they say I was the one who kept the energy alive, who could turn even the smallest moments into something worth celebrating. That I knew how to lift others up, how to find joy in the chaos, and how to make people feel seen and valued.
And if they say I was beautiful—both inside and out—I hope it’s because they felt the love I tried to give, the kindness I chose to share, and the authenticity I lived by. More than anything, I hope I leave behind a story that makes people smile, dance a little, and remember that joy is always worth chasing.
