Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachael Wilson.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My story really began, from an early age, with a love of creativity and communication. I discovered how powerful design and words can be when they work together, and that set me on a path to graphic design, copywriting, and marketing. After graduating from Indiana University (with a bachelor’s degree in marketing from IU’s Kelley School of Business and a minor in art history), I spent much of my career working within corporate, military, and real estate organizations. Though widely diverse, each allowed me a unique opportunity to hone my craft and learn the ins and outs of branding and marketing from every angle.
After gaining two decades of experience, I wanted more than to just contribute to someone else’s vision—I wanted the freedom to bring my own approach to both life and work directly to my client relationships. While the leap into running my own business isn’t always easy, it has been the most rewarding professional decision I’ve made.
Today, I’m fortunate to combine the skills I’ve built over 25 years for the benefit of others, to help businesses tell their stories with clarity and impact. Looking back, every challenge, every late night, every big win has led me here—and I wouldn’t trade the journey for anything.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road has had its bumps, without a doubt. Leaving the comfort of a traditional job to step out on my own was both exciting and daunting. There were moments of uncertainty—learning how to run the business side, building a client base from the ground up, and trusting myself to make it work—but every challenge became part of the foundation. The early struggles pushed me to grow stronger, more resourceful, and more confident. Today, the joy comes from knowing I’ve built something of my own: work that reflects my creativity, supports my clients’ visions, and gives me the freedom I once only dreamed about.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’ve had the privilege of wearing many creative hats—graphic designer, copywriter, and marketing strategist. My work is all about helping businesses bring their brands to life in a way that feels authentic, memorable, and effective. I specialize in building cohesive brand identities—everything from visuals and messaging to the strategies that connect the two. Clients often come to me because they need more than just design or words; they need someone who can see the big picture and translate their vision into a complete brand experience.
What I’m most proud of is the lasting impact my work has had—not just in beautiful campaigns or polished logos, but in seeing my clients gain confidence in how they present themselves to the world. Many of them have grown their businesses, expanded into new markets, or simply felt more aligned with their brand after we’ve worked together.
What sets me apart is that blend of creativity and strategy. I don’t just design something that looks good or write something that sounds nice—I dig into the ‘why’ behind a brand, understand the psychology behind marketing, and craft solutions that connect emotionally while also moving the needle. After 25 years, I’ve learned that true success in this field isn’t about chasing trends; it’s about creating timeless, thoughtful work that helps businesses tell their story in a way that resonates.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
For me, success is about creating work that truly makes a difference. Success is when a client feels more confident in their brand, when the design or words I’ve crafted help them connect with their audience in a meaningful way. It’s also about balance—being able to spend my days in work that I love while building lasting relationships, continuing to grow creatively, and having the freedom that comes with running my own business. To me, success is equal parts impact, fulfillment, and the joy of knowing I’ve stayed true to my passion and principles.
