Rising Stars: Meet Linda Garrison of Alvin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Linda Garrison.

Hi Linda, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My journey with Goats on the Bayou Farm LLC began shortly after acquiring my property. With ample space available, I decided to bring in additional animals, quickly discovering their profound positive impact on my own wellbeing. This personal experience inspired me to develop a business model that could extend these benefits to others.

The path to establishing and growing this animal-assisted therapy business has presented numerous challenges inherent to entrepreneurship. Running a business is certainly not for everyone—it requires tremendous dedication and resilience. Persistence has been absolutely crucial to our success, particularly when facing the everyday hurdles of business operations.

What makes our approach unique is the diverse community we’ve been privileged to serve—from elderly individuals seeking comfort to children with disabilities experiencing therapeutic benefits, and the general public discovering new forms of connection and wellness. Additionally, we’ve developed a multi-faceted business model that goes beyond typical animal therapy, combining therapeutic experiences with recreational activities like Goat Yoga and immersive overnight stays on the property.

Today, we are steadily progressing, maintaining our commitment to consistent marketing efforts while continuing to refine our services. Our focus remains on creating meaningful connections between people and animals in a healing, supportive environment.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?

Building Goats on the Bayou Farm LLC has been rewarding but challenging. We’ve navigated financial constraints and the ongoing task of educating potential clients about our services. Weather disruptions have occasionally affected our outdoor activities, requiring flexible solutions. Despite these obstacles, each challenge has strengthened our resolve and improved our ability to provide meaningful therapeutic animal experiences to our diverse community.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?

At Goats on the Bayou Farm LLC, I specialize in mobile animal-assisted therapy, bringing our therapeutic animals directly to those who need them most. Our portable program allows us to conduct impactful sessions with elderly populations in care facilities, enhancing their well-being through meaningful animal interactions. We’ve established valuable partnerships with local schools and hospital wellness programs, creating customized therapeutic experiences that address specific needs across different age groups and health conditions.

What truly sets us apart is our commitment to accessibility—we don’t limit our services to on-farm activities like Goat Yoga. Instead, we’ve developed a comprehensive mobile therapy program that brings the healing presence of our animals directly to various community settings. This approach allows us to reach individuals who might otherwise be unable to experience these beneficial interactions, making our therapeutic services more inclusive and widely available throughout the community.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Despite running a business that revolves around constant interaction with clients and the public, I’m actually an introvert at heart. Many people who meet me while I’m leading Goat Yoga sessions or conducting animal therapy programs would never guess that social interactions naturally require more energy from me. What’s particularly meaningful about my journey with Goats on the Bayou Farm LLC is how this work has gradually brought me out of my shell. The genuine connections formed through animal-assisted therapy have created a comfortable space for me to engage with others in a way that feels authentic and purposeful, transforming what was once challenging into something I now find deeply rewarding.
