Today we’d like to introduce you to Eilis Zheng.
Hi Eilis, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
When we relocated from Chicago in 2019, we fell in love with the Katy community. As we explored the area with our two kids, we saw a need for a place where parents and caregivers could take their kiddos to use their imaginations, express their creativity, and meet new friends. After a trip to Dallas, where we visited several Play Street Museum locations, we thought bringing a Play Street Museum location to Katy would not only be a perfect fit for the community, but also for our family.
For over ten years, Play Street Museum has been on mission to inspire the world through play. As we seek to provide superior quality play and educational experiences for young children and their families, each location across the country seeks to serve, impact, empower, and inspire their local community. Initially created and launched near the Dallas area, our passion for children has grown and brought us to your backyard.
Whether you’re visiting from out of town or part of our local community, we can’t wait to share all Play Street Museum has to offer! We look forward to seeing you and your family enjoy and make memories together during our playtimes, parties, craft options, and special events with our small business.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Marketing and Visibility
Building awareness for a niche concept like a children’s museum can be tough, especially when a place is new. Attracting families, building brand recognition, and getting the word out about events or special offerings would have required a robust marketing plan. Early struggles with local advertising, social media outreach, or simply word-of-mouth could have been barriers.
We’ve been impressed with Play Street Museum Katy, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Play Street Museum is an interactive children’s museum and indoor play area purposefully designed to encourage a young child’s sense of independence, exploration, and creativity.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I was the kind of person who seemed a little shy at first, but once I got comfortable, my outgoing side always came through. Meeting new people made me a bit nervous in the beginning, but after warming up, I enjoyed making friends, joining in conversations, and sharing a laugh. I loved being part of a group and finding ways to connect with others, and people often told me that I had an easygoing and friendly personality once they got to know me.
Alongside my social side, I found a lot of joy in my personal interests. Playing the piano was one of my favorite outlets. It taught me patience and focus, but also gave me a chance to express feelings that were hard to put into words. Performing a piece for family or friends made me feel proud and gave me a way to connect with people through music. Dance became another passion of mine, one that allowed me to let go of shyness and express myself freely. Moving with the rhythm was both fun and empowering, giving me confidence and energy.
Together, these experiences shaped me into someone friendly, expressive, and always ready to connect—once I take that first step.
