Today we’d like to introduce you to John Warren.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My wife and I were interested in starting a new business/franchise that we could build together in support of building a stable financial future. We vetted several different opportunities across various B2B and B2C options; prior to diving deeper into Party Princess Productions (PPP). PPP met most of our requirements for a sustainable business, so we took a leap…and opened operations in June 2016. Since that time, we have grown our revenue in line with our original model and continue to meet new goals. We have recently expanded our operations into Austin and expect great things from this new market in the future.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I am a realist, with an optimistic sense. So, I believe that all things have obstacles and challenges. If they do not, you are not pushing hard enough! We have had some expected challenges, and a few that were unexpected. Finding highly qualified female actors has been extremely easy, and in many cases, we cannot provide enough work for all the high quality female actors that we have available. On the other hand, high quality male actors have been a challenge. We have a select few and are always looking to add more to our team. For whatever reason, I believe this will continue to be a challenge as we grow in both markets. As in all business, there is ample competition at a lower price point that we are willing to offer. We maintain our focus on high quality, professional entertainment. We have received over 40 5 Star reviews, focusing attention to what differentiates PPP from the other companies that provide children’s entertainment.
Please tell us about Party Princess Productions Houston.
PPP is a children’s costumed character entertainment company, with its headquarters in Denver, Colorado. We own two franchises, one in Houston and one in Austin, Texas. Party Princess Productions provides high-end birthday party character entertainment specializing in princess parties, superhero parties and many other character themed events. Our custom handcrafted costumes and wigs, along with our quality cast, ensure the most authentic performance for every special occasion. Our costumes are of the highest quality, representing quality only seen in live theatrical presentation, holiday theme parks and in the professional film industry.
We also contract the highest quality actors for all our events. Our actors know their characters extremely well and provide a real-life opportunity for our clients to meet their favorite character, with children believing they had the opportunity to sit with their favorite princess, prince or superhero.
All our actors sing, and we are known as “The Singing Princesses” to the industry.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Wow! So many to consider…I remember how much I loved riding my big wheel in my basement before it was finished. I would ride, slide and drift for hours…wearing out all three wheels numerous times. I remember seeing my first dog on the day she was born. I remember loving to ride my bike with my friends, leaving my house very early and returning only for dinner before heading out for a few more hours.
I have many memories, but sadly I am not sure I could relate them to any things that kids today would look back upon. I never had the opportunity to have a superhero come to a birthday party, and because of the times, I don’t even think there were superheroes other than in comic books.
I do remember seeing the first Star Wars moving, falling in love with it, and building models of the X-Wing and Tye Fighter. I had them hanging from my ceiling in my bedroom, with thread spread across the entire ceiling representing laser beams!
