Hi Aqunita, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started my companies Barnes Executive Services and Barnes Precision Bookkeeping and Taxes because I wanted to help people. I started in 2020 as a Notary Public and during the course of my notary duties, I talked with my clients and learned of other areas there was a need for help. This lead me to become licensed in the states of Texas and Michigan helping people get life insurance. While doing family taxes I saw ads of other Tax Professionals who charged a crazy amount to people to prepare their taxes. Some of these people depended on the refunds to pay off debt or to even provide a fun activity for their families once a year. I pride myself on providing accurate, professional but fair pricing services to those I help. I may not have the flash as some, but my clients know that I work hard to ensure they get the best service around.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
To build my businesses have not been a smooth road. I am a full time employee who is also a caregiver. Between those two things, time management is tight. The struggle I am going through to create a sustainable business is hard but I am determined to build it so I can retire from my being an employee to a full time business owner.
