Briana Coursey shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Briana, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: Have you ever been glad you didn’t act fast?
Yes, I’ve definitely been glad I didn’t act fast. As a mom and entrepreneur, I’ve learned that not every shiny opportunity is meant for me. I remember almost saying yes to something that looked perfect on paper, but by waiting I realized it would have pulled me away from my kids and my bigger vision. That pause reminded me that timing and alignment matter more than speed and it’s kept me building with intention ever since.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Briana Coursey, also known as The Haute Mami Stylist. My journey into styling is deeply personal. Growing up in foster care, I often carried my entire world in a trash bag. That experience shaped my belief that fashion is more than clothes; it’s identity, confidence, and healing. Today, I empower busy moms and women in business to feel elevated and effortless, from school drop-off to dinner. Through my styling services, content creation, and The Haute Mamis Club community, I create spaces where women can reclaim their style, their presence, and their power. My brand is rooted in real-life relatability with a touch of aspirational luxury because I believe every woman deserves to feel seen, styled, and celebrated.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
A moment that really shaped how I see the world was entering foster care as a child. For years, I moved from home to home with my belongings in a trash bag. At the time, it felt like instability, but now I see how it gave me resilience and vision. It made me value creating identity, beauty, and confidence for myself and others. That experience taught me that style isn’t just clothing, it’s healing, self-expression, and power. It’s the reason I’m passionate about helping women, especially moms, feel seen and celebrated, no matter what they’ve walked through.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes, there were times I almost gave up, especially as a young mom balancing survival with dreams. There were days I felt buried by responsibility and doubt, wondering if my vision was too big for where I came from. But giving up would have meant my sons never saw what was possible, and I refused to let that be their story. Instead, I chose to turn my pain into purpose. That resilience became the foundation of The Haute Mami Stylist, showing women, especially mothers, that even when life feels heavy, we can rise, rebuild, and redefine ourselves.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would say what really matters to me is making people feel seen. Whether it’s in my role as a mother, a friend, or a stylist, I care deeply about creating spaces where people feel celebrated for who they are. I believe confidence starts with being acknowledged, and that shows up in everything I do, from styling a client to building community.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What light inside you have you been dimming?
For a long time, I dimmed the light of my own creativity. Growing up in instability made me think survival was enough, and dreaming too big felt risky. But once I embraced my love for fashion, storytelling, and community, I realized that was the very light I was meant to share. Today, I refuse to dim it because my light gives other women permission to shine, too.
