Check Out The Mother Talkers’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to The Mother Talkers.

Hi The Mother Talkers, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
The Mother Talkers is a Houston, TX band that brings a unique mix of rock, punk, and blues, delivering an electrifying sound that’s unmistakably original. When people go to a Talker’s show, they are taken into a sonic journey through the gritty streets of rebellion and the soulful depths of introspection. Our sound is both familiar yet refreshingly unique. Each song is a testament to our dedication to authenticity, blending hard-hitting riffs with cool lyrics that resonate with everyone on a profound level.
The band members are Alesia (Lead Singer, Acoustic Guitar), Enrique (Lead Singer, Keys), Jose (Bass Guitar), Alvaro (Lead Guitar) and Trucu (Drums)

The band had its start in the Miami, FL underground scene, recently relocating to Houston to start a new chapter in Texas.

As all things magic, the band met at a party for one of the members. they all grabbed some instruments and started jamming out, seizing the opportunity as people watched the creation of something new in real life… from that moment on, they knew there was something interesting brewing and decided to jump to the opportunity

Enrique is a well-seasoned multi-instrumentalist and band leader with an extraordinary trajectory in South and North America. He was the founding member of “La Banana Voladora (Vzla)” and one of the founding members of “Pacifica (Vzla)”. Furthermore, he has founded bands in USA such as MHALL and The Mother Talkers. He is the main songwriter, creating amazing songs that capture the audience. Enrique brings keys to life with his dynamic style, playing since he was a child. He has a very distinctive voice that makes him recognizable anywhere he goes.

Trucu oversees the drums, keeping the rhythm and adding flavor to this blend… He and Enrique have been playing for many years, bringing their tunes everywhere they go. Trucu has a punk-rock British style that suits well The Mother Talkers’s style.

Jose lays down the grooves on bass, bringing his rock-fueled style to every song. He has been playing bass for over 20 years and has performed with various bands around the globe, such as “Literal (ARG) @literal_rock), Languidez (Vzla), Interviu (USA) and The Mother Talkers (USA). Jose plays an instrumental role in the band as the music director, guiding an unruly gang, while interpreting Enriques’ ideas into great melodies

Alvaro’s passion for the guitar extends over 20 years, mostly playing rock and punk… in recent years, he has been part of the Houston music scene, playing for well-known cover/tribute bands and original rock-country artists such as Julia Byers (US @juliabyersmusic) and Matthew Renner (US @matthewdrenner). Alvaro joined The Mother Talkers to add a distinct flavor to the existing good vibes.

Alesia is the newest addition, adding a great female presence and lead vocals that complements the band in all aspects.

We recently released our EP “Houston YOU Have A Problem” and are currently working on the second one, hoping to leave a mark in the city.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
In the words of Enrique, “Nah, easy, just play!”… or the classic “That’ll do it”, lol… So far, it seems like it was meant to be and all the pieces have fallen in place with no major issues. Everyone knows their role and the experiment has gone well so far, the mood is relaxed and ideally we can keep making music that people want to listen to

Now, there is a challenge indeed, playing live in the city… it seems more and more that there are not enough spaces to play live and share music with music lovers. bars are closing down and the few around are increasingly becoming difficult to get in… since our early beginnings, The Talkers have been chasing every opportunity to play in different venues, giging relentlessly and as much as possible, but getting into venues has not been an easy feature… it takes a lot of phone calls, visits, begging and the occasionally lying, as Alvaro would say “We finally get to someone that can make a call and we have to promise things we are not even sure we can accomplish, so every time we get a gig or an event in place, there is a lot of stress on making sure we can mobilize everyone and their mothers, haha”

In terms of creating and producing music, we found our rhythm from the get-go. The band has a pretty layback approach to the artistic creative process. Enrique, almost all the time, comes with the ideas. it seems that from the moment he wakes up, he comes up with lyrics and melodies. he brings roughs to the group and Jose (bass) is the mastermind that interprets, translates and delivers the direction to the rest of the group, morphing Enrique’s idea into something actually magical… Recoding happens all over the place and with the support of great friends in and out of the US…

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
As everyone knows, living out of music is not easy and sometimes not sustainable… we all have day jobs

Enrique is a visual and audio professional that has worked in marketing, branding and media… Jose, Alvaro and Alesia are part of the 9-5 grind, working in areas from Accounting to Operations and Management. Trucu is an entrepreneur that runs his own business in the medical sector

We are all very busy but there is always time for creating music.
