Hidden Gems: Meet Stormy Courville of Rosewater Bookkeeping

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stormy Courville.

Hi Stormy, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
After working at a tax firm for 5 years, I wanted to find a lower stress environment, and hopefully a place where I could use my skills to their full capacity and continue to grow. I worked out an agreement with my prior employer to keep a good portion of the bookkeeping clients, many of whom I had worked with for years. I also brought one of the employees with me as part of this agreement. I wouldn’t have been able to make this business work without her.

She worked on my Rosewater clients while I worked a different full time job, until from good reviews and word of mouth, and from our partnerships with multiple tax firms in the area, we organically grew to where I also work in the business full time, hired a third bookkeeper, and am now looking towards my next bookkeeper!

Even though we don’t market aggressively, I feel that the successes we have achieved have come from, firstly, God’s grace, and secondly, a dedication to good service. Owning your own business can be extremely stressful and extremely rewarding. On top of navigating all of that, now you have bookkeeping and entity structures to deal with. By providing relief in those areas, my customers can focus on running, expanding, and enjoying their businesses instead of being stressed out by rules and regulations.

By providing clear information, clean books ready for returns, and sometimes just a listening ear, we can provide the peace of mind to help other small business owners and nonprofits be successful.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
When Rosewater first started, our client base couldn’t support both me and my right hand lady. I had to work full time on top of assisting her with the more advanced accounting tasks. We also double check our work, so I would need to review her work at this time also. Time constraints can be very difficult. Thankfully we grew enough for me to work and manage Rosewater full time.

Another struggle we face is deadlines. Although we try our best to complete tasks immediately, we sometimes have to wait for documentation to be able to record something. Requesting and sharing documentation is a big administrative struggle for us.

As you know, we’re big fans of Rosewater Bookkeeping. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
