Daily Inspiration: Meet Seressa Nickerson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Seressa Nickerson.

Hi Seressa, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my journey in ministry over two decades ago, fueled by a deep passion to see lives transformed through the love of Christ. My path hasn’t been without challenges — I’ve walked through child abuse, PTSD, and seasons of feeling unseen. But those very experiences gave me compassion for others and a determination to help women, children, and communities heal and thrive.

To strengthen my calling, I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Ministry from the International College of Ministry and I am currently pursuing my Master of Arts in Ministry. Over the years, God has allowed me to serve as an evangelist, prophet, author, pageant queen, and nonprofit founder. My ministry, Her Majesty Empowered, was birthed from my own journey of overcoming low self-esteem and discovering my royal identity in Christ.

Today, I use my voice, platforms, and crown to advocate for women’s health, homelessness, and child abuse awareness, while mentoring women and children to walk boldly in their purpose. Whether through ministry, pageantry, or community service, my heart remains the same: to empower others to rise, heal, and reign with confidence in who God created them to be.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t been a smooth road. I’ve faced many challenges — from overcoming low self-esteem to shattering stereotypes about what it means to be a plus-size woman in modeling and pageantry, all while carrying a global assignment of preaching the Gospel. There were seasons of rejection, criticism, and doors that closed simply because I chose to walk in purpose.

But those struggles only refined me. Every obstacle taught me to trust God deeper and gave me the resilience to stand boldly in who He’s called me to be. The road hasn’t been easy, but it’s been necessary to shape the woman, minister, and leader I am today.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My work spans ministry, pageantry, authorship, advocacy, and media — but at the core, I specialize in empowerment. I’m known for merging faith and influence, using both the pulpit and the pageant stage as platforms to inspire others. Through my nonprofit, Her Majesty Empowered, I mentor women and children to discover their royal identity in Christ and walk boldly in their God-given purpose. I also advocate strongly for women’s health, homelessness, and child abuse awareness, giving voice to causes that deeply matter to me.

In addition, I’m the founder of Media + Me, a platform that helps individuals, ministries, and organizations navigate media with confidence — whether through branding, storytelling, or digital strategy. It’s another way I empower others to amplify their voice and reach.

In pageantry and modeling, I’m most proud of shattering stereotypes about what a plus-size woman can achieve. Wearing crowns isn’t just about beauty for me — it’s about using visibility to open doors for other women who may have felt overlooked.

What sets me apart is the way I carry both ministry and marketplace assignments with authenticity. Whether I’m preaching, directing a pageant, writing, creating media, or modeling, my heart is the same: to create spaces where people feel seen, valued, and empowered to rise.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Finding a mentor is truly about alignment, not just connection. I encourage people to seek leaders who not only have the experience you admire but also carry the wisdom, grace, and integrity you want to see in your own journey. Mentorship is more than advice — it’s about impartation, accountability, and having someone who can guide you while also cheering you on.

For me, I’ve been blessed to walk alongside my mentor, Pastor Delpha Samuels. She is both a powerhouse in ministry and a pageant queen and coach. Watching her merge the worlds of faith and pageantry with such excellence has been an inspiration. She has shown me that it’s possible to carry the Gospel and still embrace influence in spaces where crowns and sashes open doors. Her guidance has helped shape how I steward both my ministry and pageantry assignments.

When it comes to networking, I’ve learned that authenticity is key. Show up as yourself, be willing to serve, and don’t just look for what you can receive — look for what you can contribute. That’s how real, lasting relationships are built.
