Hi Chris, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I grew up a military brat, moving every two years, a rhythm that forced me to adapt quickly, read people well, and find ways to help wherever I landed. At the University of Houston I met Robert Wong; together we cracked early access challenges around ESS60, built our own production process, and founded SES Research in April 1991, which later became the largest ESS60 supplier in the U.S. As interest in the molecule surged after 2012, I shifted from staying strictly in the lab to becoming, admittedly, a “reluctant supplement guy.” I stepped into consumer products to safeguard quality, educate customers on the difference between industrial ESS60 processed for human use, and bring more transparency to the space. A deeply personal moment, watching my father pass with a DNR, reframed my mission around helping people live longer and better, with energy, clarity, and dignity. That experience still guides how I think about product design, dosing practicality, and the everyday habits that allow people to “die young at a very old age.”
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Constant uprooting as a kid meant new schools, new friends, and starting over again and again, hard at the time, but it trained me to be resourceful and resilient. Building a business around a rare, complex molecule required inventing and scaling production from scratch: custom reactors, long purification runs, rigorous batch testing, and relentless QA to ensure purity and consistency. Early on, access to high-quality ESS60 felt almost “Top Secret,” so we had to solve supply, safety, and process control issues without a playbook. Entering the wellness market brought a different set of hurdles: widespread mislabeling and under dosing, confusion between industrial ESS60, and the need to educate consumers while navigating evolving regulatory expectations. I also faced healthy skepticism, from scientists, clinicians, and customers which pushed me to double down on data, manufacturing standards, and clear communication. Layered on top were family health anxieties, including relatives with ALS, which kept the work personal and reinforced my focus on integrity, safety, and real-world outcomes.

Why ESS60?
Antioxidants neutralize free radicals by donating electrons without becoming unstable themselves (think of them as the “always-helpful neighbor”). What makes ESS60 remarkable is its soccer-ball-like carbon structure (“buckyball”), which can stabilize multiple free radicals, a unique architecture that sets it apart from single-molecule antioxidants.
The research
While MyVitalC itself has not been tested in humans, ESS60 is grounded in Nobel Prize–winning chemistry. A peer-reviewed 2012 study (Baati et al., University of Paris) reported that rats given C60 in olive oil experienced up to a 90% increase in lifespan. We use the same class of ESS60 referenced in that work. Human experience today is early and evolving.
