Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with HTX Papi of Houston

HTX Papi shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi HTX, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
Integrity. A mistake can be made from a lack of intelligence which is forgivable, however knowingly making a mistake is a choice. I value someone who will do whats right as much as someone making a mistake due to ignorance.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Xavier, founder of Papi-B-Charming, a mobile jewelry brand based in Houston that specializes in custom grillz and luxury pieces with a bold “trap luxe” aesthetic. What makes my brand unique is how I blend urban street culture with high-end craftsmanship bringing the shine directly to the people, wherever they are.

Papi-B-Charming isn’t your typical jewelry business, it’s an experience. From personalized fittings to on-the-spot service, I make it convenient and personal for clients to express themselves through their jewelry. My slogan, “Just Putty In Your Mouth,” captures the fun, confidence, and creativity behind every custom grill.

This brand was built from passion and hustle. I started out wanting to give my community access to luxury they could call their own, without losing the authenticity of where we come from. Right now, I’m expanding the brand through new digital tools, event vending, and collaborations that merge fashion, music, and culture.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
I’m releasing my old mantra of ‘no new friends’ and ‘family over everything.’ Sometimes proximity blocks us from making the best decisions. I’ve learned that you have to step outside your bubble to find the change you really need and want.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes, during the pandemic I found it really difficult to compete in the accessories and jewelry market. Competing with huge companies like Shein and Temu was killing my brand and my spark. It felt like no matter how creative or passionate I was, the market was flooded with cheaper, mass-produced options that made it hard for small brands like mine to stand out. But that struggle also pushed me to redefine what makes Papi-B-Charming different, the personal touch, the culture, and the authenticity behind every piece. Once I leaned into that, I started to find my fire again.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
For the most part yes, however I am multifaceted. Sometimes I like to sit and absolutely do nothing with little to no effort with my appearance. The public gets a semi-polished version of me for the most part.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
If I knew I had 10 years left, I’d stop doubting myself and holding back ideas out of fear of failure or judgment. I’d stop trying to make everything perfect before putting it out. Life’s too short to second-guess your own potential. I’d rather spend that time creating, connecting, and leaving behind something real, something that represents who I am and what Papi-B-Charming stands for. And honestly, I’d start eating better too, because health matters just as much as the hustle.
