Today we’d like to introduce you to Sofia Sonntag.
Hi Sofia, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My story began with a love for creativity, connection, and bringing ideas to life through experiences that people remember. I studied Business Administration with a concentration in Entertainment and a minor in Musical Theater, which gave me a foundation that blended strategy with artistry, two sides I’ve carried throughout my career.
I started my journey in Mexico City, producing large-scale shows and corporate events for audiences of up to 10,000 people. From managing stage productions to overseeing event logistics, I learned early on how to bring vision and precision together. Those years taught me not only how to lead teams and handle pressure but also how to craft moments that truly resonate with people.
Eventually, I expanded to New York City, where I dove into the fast-paced world of event production, creative direction, and brand storytelling. I’ve produced over 250 high-impact events across the U.S., collaborated with major venues and hospitality groups, and led creative campaigns that merge design, digital marketing, and live experiences. Along the way, I co-founded my own media and production agency, which allowed me to combine my passion for creativity, business growth, and collaboration.
Today, every project I take on is rooted in the same goal: to create meaningful, memorable experiences that inspire connection and elevate brands. The path hasn’t always been linear, but it’s been fueled by curiosity, hard work, and an unshakable belief that creativity, when done with intention, can move people and open doors.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but I think that’s what has shaped my drive and resilience the most. Working in events and creative production means living in constant motion, tight timelines, unpredictable logistics, and long hours where everything needs to be perfect. Early on, I had to learn how to stay calm under pressure and find solutions fast, even when things didn’t go as planned.
Transitioning from Mexico City to New York City was another major challenge. Starting over in a new country meant rebuilding my professional network from the ground up, proving myself in a much larger, more competitive market. There were moments of uncertainty, but those experiences taught me how to adapt quickly, stay resourceful, and trust in my ability to create opportunities rather than wait for them.
Balancing the creative and business sides of production has also been a learning curve, making sure that passion meets profitability. But each obstacle has made me stronger, more strategic, and more intentional about the kind of work I take on. Every challenge has been a stepping stone toward building a career that feels authentic, meaningful, and aligned with the future I’m creating.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I like best about New York:
New York is an endless source of inspiration. The city’s energy, diversity, and creativity are unmatched. Every neighborhood has its own character, every street has a story, and every day brings new opportunities to experience art, culture, and innovation.
What I like least about New York:
The city can be overwhelming at times; the crowds, the noise, and the cost of living are real challenges. It demands resilience, patience, and adaptability. But those very challenges also push you to think bigger, move faster, and constantly innovate, which is part of what makes New York so unique.
