Hidden Gems: Meet Shehadi Shaar of TYTN (tighten) Tailors

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shehadi Shaar.

Hi Shehadi, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Tytn.co was born out of tradition, family, and a deep love for craftsmanship.

I’ve been the son of a tailor all my life. My father, who came to America from Lebanon with nothing but determination and a dream, built a respected tailoring business through decades of hard work. Growing up, I watched him pour his heart into every stitch teaching me about fabrics, styles, and what it truly means to earn respect through effort.

Since I was a kid, he dressed me up and showed me the art of making people look and feel their best. And though I always admired his work, I had my own entrepreneurial spirit. I went into corporate housing for a time, but every weekend, I found myself back in my father’s shop learning, helping, connecting with customers.

When my father was diagnosed with cancer, I stepped in full-time to keep the shop running for over a year. That experience changed me. I realized tailoring wasn’t just his passion it was in my blood too.

But I also saw the challenges customers faced. People today are busier than ever some are professionals with packed schedules, others may have mobility issues and getting to the tailor can be inconvenient. That’s when the idea for Tytn came to life.

Tytn is a mobile tailoring service built for convenience. We bring the tailor to you at your home or office for fittings, alterations, and custom garments. Once your items are ready, we deliver them back to your door, perfectly tailored and guaranteed to fit.

Our goal is to make tailoring as simple and accessible as ordering a ride the Uber of tailoring starting in Houston and expanding soon to Dallas and Austin.

We’ve built a trusted network of skilled tailors across Houston who are paid per job, not hourly, because we believe in fairness and empowerment. Every tailor under the Tytn network is an independent professional with the opportunity to make a great living while doing what they love.

At Tytn, we don’t charge inflated prices. Our alteration rates are standard often lower than other shops with only a $25 pickup and delivery fee to cover transportation. We’re always here to answer your questions, and our mission is simple: to help you look sharp, save time, and feel confident.

This isn’t just a business it’s a legacy built on craftsmanship, service, and hard work. And we’re just getting started.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Like any new business, Tytn has faced its fair share of challenges and most of them revolve around technology and logistics.

Building a mobile tailoring service sounds simple, but behind the scenes, it’s a complex system that depends on timing, precision, and communication. The technology has definitely been the hardest part keeping the website and scheduling system running smoothly, fixing issues with orders that show as “pending,” and correcting missing customer details like names or addresses.

Another ongoing challenge is time management around Houston’s traffic. We pride ourselves on punctuality if we tell a customer we’ll be there at 11, we aim to arrive exactly at 11. We usually leave early and are rarely more than five minutes late, because we respect our customers’ time. Still, balancing multiple appointments across Houston’s traffic patterns is something we’re constantly improving.

Every obstacle teaches us something. We tackle each issue one by one, communicate directly with our customers, and refine the system. Once we perfect the technology and scheduling, everything else will flow naturally. The tailoring that part we’ve mastered for generations. The tech and timing that’s what we’re perfecting now.

As you know, we’re big fans of TYTN (tighten) Tailors . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
At Tytn.co, we’re redefining what it means to get tailored. We specialize in mobile tailoring bringing professional fittings and alterations directly to our customers’ homes or offices. Our mission is to make custom tailoring easy, accessible, and time-saving for today’s busy lifestyle.

What sets us apart is our convenience and craftsmanship. Every visit includes a one-on-one fitting with an experienced tailor, followed by pickup, professional alterations at our workshop, and delivery straight back to the customer’s door. We handle everything from simple hems to full suit adjustments and custom-made garments all with precision and care.

We’re known for our attention to detail, reliability, and hospitality. Our brand was inspired by my father’s 54-year legacy as a Houston tailor a man who came from Lebanon with a dream and built a respected name through hard work and honesty. Tytn carries that same dedication forward, blending old-world craftsmanship with modern-day convenience.

What I’m most proud of, brand-wise, is our commitment to service with integrity. We don’t just alter clothes we build trust. We’ve created a system that respects both the customer’s time and the tailor’s craft. Our tailors are paid per job, not hourly, allowing them to take pride in their work and maintain full control over their schedules.

We want readers to know that Tytn isn’t just another tailoring business it’s a service built on family values, passion, and innovation. We’re here to make people look sharp, feel confident, and save time while doing it.

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory at my dad’s shop was going there with my mom and sister and watching him work with so much focus and pride. He’d always let me pick through the scrap fabric the leftover pieces from suits and dresses he had just finished and I’d use them to make little things like hearts or teddy bears.

Even though they were just scraps, to me they felt special like tiny pieces of art that carried the same love and craftsmanship my dad put into every garment. Those moments taught me creativity, patience, and the value of hard work. Looking back now, that’s really where my passion for this business began.
