Today we’d like to introduce you to Jack Quillin.
Hi Jack, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’m a Houston native with a lifelong passion for storytelling through the lens. In 2021, I moved to Los Angeles to attend film school and immerse myself in the heart of the entertainment industry. During my time there, I gained hands-on experience working high-profile events including the Oscars, AppleTV+ premieres, and DreamWorks productions, as well as contributing to a local news agency.
After my college unexpectedly shut down, I found myself at a crossroads. With the industry slowing down and opportunities becoming scarce, I made the decision to return home to Humble, Texas to be closer to family and refocus my career. Back home, I searched for opportunities in news, television, and photography — but when no one was hiring, I decided to build my own path.
In May 2025, The Visual Craft was born. With the support of my family, I turned my creative experience into a growing business that now serves Houston and beyond. Since launching, I’ve become an active member of Partnership Lake Houston, where I proudly serve as their official photographer. I’ve filmed and photographed weddings, corporate events, community gatherings, and more — always striving to capture the emotion and authenticity in every story.
Today, The Visual Craft specializes in photography, videography, and web design for families and small businesses — especially those with unique challenges or disabilities. My motto has always been simple: “I’m happy to help.” Whether it’s elevating a brand, telling a family’s story, or building a small business’s digital presence, I approach every project with purpose, compassion, and creativity.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been an easy journey. I’ve faced all the typical challenges that come with starting a small business — from struggling to get my name out there to experiencing slow seasons where clients were hard to come by. At one point, I even had to pick up a second job just to keep things afloat. But recently, things have started turning around, and I’m excited for the many projects I have lined up and the opportunities ahead.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in creating meaningful content for families and small to medium-sized businesses — everything from photography and videography to web design and storytelling. My passion lies in helping people share their stories in a genuine, impactful way.
One of my proudest moments was being named Photographer of the Year for my photograph of a Los Angeles Fire Department firefighter — a shot that reminded me why I fell in love with this craft in the first place.
What sets me apart is my commitment to fair pricing, high-quality results, and a personal touch in every project I take on. Beyond my business, I volunteer my time and creative skills to support local non-profits, and I have several exciting community events coming up where I’ll be giving back through my work.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
People can support me through collaboration. I’m always excited to take on new projects and love working with others to bring ideas to life. Right now, the biggest way to help me grow is through connections — if you know someone getting married, starting a business, or struggling with their online or social media presence, send them my way! Every referral and introduction makes a difference.
