An Inspired Chat with Mrs. LaToya Holloway

Mrs. LaToya Holloway shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

LaToya, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: Are you walking a path—or wandering?
I beleive I am doing both- walking a path and wandering. I am in a new chapter of my life that I often describe as uncharted territory because I never seen anyone navigate a similar jorney, so I am learning as I go. Almost 2 years ago, I took a leap of faith, resigned from an 11-year rewarding career to pursue my purpose without a blueprint. Because I don’t have a physical map to help me get to my destiny, I am learning to be in tune to God’s voice so that I won’t make the wrong move. Some days I feel confident that I clearly heard his direction and know which steps to take. Other days, I find myself questioning or feeling uncertain — often due to emotions, fear, or simply the discomfort that comes with trying something new. Still, I recognize that even in the moments that feel like wandering, I’m growing, trusting, and being guided toward clarity and purpose.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am LaToya Holloway, a self-driven visionary, mentor, and entrepreneur who’s mission is to inspire and equip the youth and women to walk boldly in their purpose. As the Co-Founder of Victorious Youth Mentoring Organization, and the Owner of Luxxe Looks by LaToya and Lil’ Bosses Hair Academy, I use my diverse skills in beauty, business and mentorship to empower the next generation.

I am currently working to expand my mentorship and youth empowerment programs across Houston to build bridges between education and entrepreneurship. My ultimate goal is to help the youth build their confidence and embrace their purpose.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
Before the world told me who I had to be, I was a little girl who found joy in art—whether it was drawing or styling hair. But as I grew older, society’s voice grew louder than my own. The focus shifted toward earning a degree and securing a “good job,” rather than following the path of purpose and passion that had always been in my heart.

So, I did what was expected of me. I built a career, achieved success, and checked all the boxes—but fulfillment never came. There was still a quiet void within me that no title or paycheck could fill. It wasn’t until I chose to listen to my inner voice—and God’s guidance—that I returned to what truly makes me come alive: using my gift in the beauty industry and mentoring youth.

That experience taught me a valuable truth: never let the noise of the world drown out the voice within. Because that inner voice is the one that leads you back to your purpose.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
There have definitely been moments when I felt like giving up. But each time, I remind myself of the importance of finishing what I started and pushing through. Perseverance has taught me that staying the course doesn’t just build character—it reveals strength I didn’t know I had.

At the same time, I’ve also learned that letting go isn’t always the same as quitting. There’s wisdom in recognizing when a season has come to an end. Sometimes, what looks like an ending is really a divine shift—a signal that it’s time to move in a new direction and grow in new ways.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
The cultural value I protect at all costs is faith-driven integrity—staying true to my purpose, my beliefs, and the people I serve, no matter what season I’m in. My faith grounds every decision I make, and integrity ensures that what I build reflects both excellence and authenticity. I believe that when your heart and your actions align, everything else falls into place.

I also protect the spirit of empowerment—making sure every young person or woman I work with walks away feeling seen, valued, and capable of more. That’s non-negotiable for me. I never want the spaces I create to just teach skills; I want them to teach identity, confidence, and ownership.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. If you laid down your name, role, and possessions—what would remain?
If I laid down my name, my role, and everything I own, what would remain is my heart — the servant, the believer, and the visionary within me. The part of me that loves deeply, gives freely, and believes in the power of transformation. My purpose and passion for helping others become who they were created to be would still stand.

Even without the titles or recognition, I would still be a light — someone called to uplift, teach, and inspire. What remains is the essence of who I am: a woman led by God, committed to purpose, and dedicated to leaving people better than I found them.
