Meet Kabila Gana – Lapnet of Houston, TX

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kabila Gana – Lapnet.

Kabila Gana – Lapnet

Hi Kabila, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I grew up watching my mom bake, and our kitchen was always filled with laughter, love, and the smell of something sweet . Those moments became some of my fondest memories—and over time, they planted the seed for what would become Kabsykreations.

What started as a simple hobby—baking treats for family and friends—slowly grew into something much bigger. People didn’t just love the desserts; they loved the experience, the personal touches, and the way I brought their visions to life. That’s when I realized this was more than baking—it was a way to create joy, a ministry.

Over the years, I’ve turned that passion into a home-based bakery right here in Houston. Today, Kabsykreations specializes in custom, handcrafted cakes & desserts that make every celebration feel special—from birthdays and weddings to corporate events.

What truly sets my business apart is how deeply I value the client journey from the very first inquiry to the final delivery. I make sure every client feels seen, involved, and delighted. My goal is to create not just desserts, but experiences that leave a lasting impression.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Oh, it’s definitely not been a smooth road — but it’s been a meaningful one. When I started Kabsykreations, I was driven by passion and a desire for creativity. Still, like many small business owners, I quickly realized that baking the desserts was only one part of running a business.

There were so many behind-the-scenes lessons — learning marketing, understanding pricing, managing orders, keeping boundaries, and figuring out how to reach my ideal audience. It wasn’t always easy trying to stand out in a saturated market or figuring out how to communicate the value of custom, handcrafted desserts to people who were comparing prices instead of experiences.

Another big challenge has been marketing and visibility — getting people to not only find me but also stay connected. Building an engaged audience on social media and getting people to sign up for my email list has been a journey in itself. I’ve had to learn to show up consistently, tell my story authentically, and let people see the person behind the brand — not just the pretty desserts.

Then there’s the reality of balancing it all — motherhood, entrepreneurship, and life. Some days, the mixer wins and I’ve learned to give myself grace in those moments.

But every challenge has helped me grow — as a business owner, as a creator, and as a woman. I’ve learned that consistency, faith, and connection go a long way. Even when things don’t go as planned, I remind myself why I started — to create joy, build memories, and make every celebration a little sweeter.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
At KabsyKreations, I specialize in turning life’s sweetest moments into edible art — from custom cakes and cupcakes to elegant chocolate-covered treats that taste just as good as they look. What I really do goes beyond baking — I create experiences. I take my clients’ visions, stories, and celebrations and bring them to life through handcrafted desserts that feel personal, meaningful, and full of joy. Whether it’s a baby shower, birthday, wedding, or corporate event, my goal is always the same: to make people smile before they even take the first bite.

I’m most proud of the client journey I’ve built. From the moment someone inquires, I make sure it’s not just a transaction but an experience. I involve my clients in the creative process so they feel seen, valued, and excited every step of the way. That personalized touch — plus the love and attention to detail that goes into every order — is what truly sets Kabsykreations apart.

I think people can feel the heart behind what I do. I don’t just bake desserts — I bake memories. That’s what keeps my clients coming back and referring others. It’s a blessing to know that my treats have become part of people’s happiest moments, and that’s something I’ll never take for granted.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
First and foremost, I have to thank God — truly. None of this would be possible without His grace, guidance, and favor. Every opportunity, every client, every season of growth has been because of Him, and I’m so thankful for how far He’s brought me.

I also want to give a huge shoutout to my family — especially my husband and my mom. They’ve been my real-life superheroes, stepping in to help with the kids, home, and everything in between so I can focus on creating. Their support allows me to show up fully — both as a mom and as a business owner — and that’s a blessing I don’t take for granted.

Then there’s Chef Amanda, who’s poured so much wisdom and encouragement into me through her Baking for Business community. She’s been an incredible mentor and example of what it means to build with purpose and heart.

And of course, Ghislene and Zsaquez . These ladies have been a powerhouse when it comes to business development and helping me think strategically about growth and direction. Having people who believe in your vision and help bring it to life is invaluable.

Then, to my amazing clients — thank you for trusting me to be part of your celebrations. You’ve allowed Kabsykreations to grow beyond what I could’ve ever imagined. Every message, every order, every referral — it all means so much.

It truly takes a village (and a whole lot of faith), and I’m endlessly grateful for mine.
