Today we’d like to introduce you to Mai Nguyen.
Mai, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I fell in love with optometry over a decade ago, on my very first day of work as an optometric assistant. I was so passionate about it that after completing my undergraduate studies at the University of Houston, I packed my entire life into a tiny cargo trailer and relocated to Southern California to attend optometry school. In the small town where I lived, it seemed that every block was filled with independent, locally-owned businesses. Each seemed to have a unique vibe and feel that reflected not only the business but also the personality of the business owner! I appreciated how this individuality lent itself to more personalized service and products. Before long, I knew that I wanted to replicate a similar experience in optometry once I returned home to Texas. My goal was to build a practice/business based upon trust and exceptional customer service while offering unique, quality products.
About 5 years ago, I left the comforts of a salaried employee position to pursue that dream! Mai Nguyen, OD and Associates opened in 2012 in Stafford, Texas and its sister practice location, Radiant Eyecare, opened for business in May 2017 in Cypress, Texas
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The biggest challenge was getting the word out about my offices’ business philosophy and presence. Being independently owned and operated practices, they didn’t have the name recognition. Slowly but surely, and with countless long nights of working on the business, we built our patient base and professional network at Mai Nguyen, OD and Associates in Stafford, TX. Radiant Eyecare is still in its infancy and working on overcoming similar obstacles.

Radiant Eyecare is a local, female-owned and operated optometrist office. We love living in and serving all our neighbors in Cypress, TX! Our goal is to meet all our patients’ visual and fashion needs.
At Radiant Eyecare, you will find a full-service optical, team of experienced professionals, and the latest in technology. We offer comprehensive visual and medical eye exams, contact lenses, and co-manage cataract, eyelid, and refractive surgery. Because we’re not affiliated with any of the major retailers, we are able to offer a wide selection of unique glasses frames that you will not find elsewhere. Each of our frame collections is unique and has its own cool backstory. We also offer a variety of top-quality, custom lenses.
My team and I take pride in our customer service. We strive to exceed expectations with our expertise and products – all while having a good time! We love to learn and look for opportunities to grow personally and professionally.

Radiant Eyecare is looking forward to becoming the first choice in eye care for Cypress, TX and surrounding communities! We have plans to expand our product lines, retail services, office hours, and referral network.
