Today we’d like to introduce you to TAneisha Davis, Dee Williams, & Nechelle McClendon.
Hi Aneisha, Dee, and Nechelle, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Absolutely. Theta Kappa Sigma Sorority, Incorporated was born from a defining moment—one that tested our values, our unity, and our vision. The three of us, now known as the Madam Grands, began as members of another organization. Over time, we realized our principles no longer aligned with its direction.
We believed in transparency, accountability, and sisterhood with real purpose. So, instead of compromising, we made the choice to lead. Alongside three bold women who stood with us and twenty-one pledges who believed in something greater, we stepped out on faith and built what would become Theta Kappa Sigma Sorority, Incorporated.
From that leap of courage grew a movement—one grounded in authenticity, cultural pride, and intentional service. Today, Theta Kappa Sigma is a national sisterhood of women who embody leadership, grace, and resilience.
Our journey began with faith, but it continues through the women who carry this torch forward. For us, Theta Kappa Sigma isn’t just an organization—it’s a legacy of courage, conviction, and community.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Smooth isn’t exactly the word we’d use. It’s been a bit of everything—smooth, bumpy, rocky, shaky, and blissful all rolled into one. Since that four-hour phone call on May 12, 2025, when the vision of Theta Kappa Sigma first came to life, we’ve felt every emotion possible.
There have been days filled with clarity and momentum, and others where we had to remind ourselves why we started. Building something from the ground up takes heart, patience, and a lot of faith. But watching it all unfold—seeing our National Leadership Team come together, laying down the full foundation of the organization, and watching our mentorship initiative, The Royal Bloom Society, blossom with ten mentors and mentees—has been beyond rewarding.
We’re proud, we’re humbled, and we’re still evolving. Every challenge sharpened our vision, and every win reminded us of our purpose. The road hasn’t been perfect—but it’s ours. And that makes it beautiful.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Theta Kappa Sigma Sorority, Incorporated ?
Theta Kappa Sigma Sorority, Incorporated is more than a sisterhood—it’s a movement. We are a non-collegiate Greek-letter organization created for women 25 and older who are committed to leading with purpose, serving with integrity, and uplifting their communities.
Our work lives at the intersection of empowerment, service, and legacy. We specialize in helping women reconnect with their power—through leadership development, community service, mentorship, and sisterhood that’s rooted in accountability and growth. One of our proudest accomplishments so far is the launch of The Royal Bloom Society, our mentorship initiative that pairs accomplished women of Theta Kappa Sigma with young girls in need of guidance, encouragement, and representation. Seeing those relationships bloom has been one of the most fulfilling parts of our journey.
What truly sets us apart is our intentionality. We don’t just wear the letters—we live the values: Sisterhood. Leadership. Service. Excellence. Everything we do—from our community initiatives to our branding—is crafted with purpose and grace.
Brand-wise, we’re proud to represent something that looks and feels like today’s woman: bold, radiant, and resilient. From our peacock emblem symbolizing beauty and rebirth, to our signature colors of burnt orange, teal, silver, and white—every detail tells a story of strength and transformation.
We want readers to know that Theta Kappa Sigma is not just another sorority; it’s a space where women can find purpose, healing, and sisterhood all in one. We’re building a legacy—one woman, one city, one act of service at a time.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Starting Theta Kappa Sigma was the risk. laughs It was faith over fear, plain and simple. On May 12, 2025, during that four-hour phone call, we knew what we were about to do would shake things up. Walking away from a space that was already established to build something entirely new—without a blueprint, without guarantees—wasn’t an easy decision. But it was the right one.
For us, risk isn’t about recklessness—it’s about obedience to purpose. We’ve learned that sometimes you have to let go of what’s familiar to create what’s necessary. That’s exactly what we did. We risked comfort for authenticity, and that decision birthed a legacy.
We’ve taken risks financially, emotionally, and spiritually to lay this foundation—from structuring a national organization from scratch to creating programs like The Royal Bloom Society with nothing but vision and determination. Every major move came with uncertainty, but also with clarity: we knew why we were doing it.
So yes, we’re risk-takers—but not for the thrill of it. We take risks because we believe in what we’re building. And the beautiful part is, every risk we’ve taken has turned into a reward that reminded us we’re exactly where we’re supposed to be.
