Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Martinez.
Hi Lisa, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I got started in real estate because I wanted to build something meaningful. Something that helped people during stressful transitions while also giving me the freedom to create my own path. I didn’t come from a real estate background, but I’ve always been resourceful and curious. I started learning everything I could online, listening to podcasts, studying others’ success, and taking action one step at a time.
In the beginning, it was just me, late nights, figuring out how to talk with homeowners in a way that made them feel heard and understood. Over time, I developed a process that focuses on solving problems first, not just making offers.
Today, I run TX Cash Home Buyers, where we help homeowners in the Greater Houston area, as well as other parts of Texas, sell their homes quickly and without the usual stress of repairs or listings. Backed by our experience and trusted network of local investors, we’re able to create win-win solutions that fit each seller’s unique situation. Whether they’re facing foreclosure, an inherited property, or costly repairs.
It’s been a journey of growth and gratitude. Every story, every homeowner, and every challenge has shaped the company into what it is today. Helping people find relief and a fresh start has always been the most rewarding part.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. When I first started, I had no background in real estate, just determination and a willingness to figure things out as I went. I made plenty of mistakes early on, from analyzing deals the wrong way to overthinking conversations with sellers that never went anywhere. There were a lot of late nights trying to understand how everything worked and wondering if I was even cut out for it.
The hardest part wasn’t just learning the numbers or the contracts. It was staying confident when things didn’t go as planned. In this business, you deal with a lot of uncertainty and rejection before you ever find your rhythm. But each challenge taught me something valuable about persistence, communication, and creating real solutions for people. Looking back, those early struggles were the foundation that helped me build a much stronger, more intentional business.
As you know, we’re big fans of TX Cash Home Buyers. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
At TX Cash Home Buyers, we specialize in helping homeowners across Houston and throughout Texas sell their properties quickly and without the stress that comes with listing on the market. We buy houses as-is, which means sellers don’t have to worry about repairs, cleaning, or waiting months for a buyer.
What really sets us apart is our approach. We don’t treat this like a numbers game, every homeowner we work with has a story, and we make it our priority to understand their situation and find a solution that truly fits. Whether someone’s dealing with a pending foreclosure, inherited property, or simply needs to move on from a house that’s become too much to manage, we offer an honest, straightforward way to sell.
We’re proud to be a trusted local home-buying company backed by our experience and strong network of investors. At the end of the day, our mission is simple: to make the selling process faster, easier, and more respectful for Texas homeowners who just need a fresh start.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
If you’re just starting out, don’t get discouraged by how much you don’t know yet. Everyone starts with uncertainty. The key is to take action anyway and learn as you go. Real estate (and business in general) rewards consistency more than perfection. You’ll make mistakes, deals will fall through, and there will be times you question if it’s working, but those moments are where you learn the most.
Looking back, I wish I had trusted the process sooner and focused less on trying to have everything figured out before getting started. Surround yourself with people who are doing what you want to do, ask questions, and keep your word with every homeowner or partner you meet. The relationships you build will take you further than any single deal.
