Today we’d like to introduce you to Carla Hill.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My last 8-5 job was at the age of 23. I made a list of everything I loved doing, then set out to find a way to be paid to do all those things. I started a skin care company in 1986, before the internet – and we used infomercials and grew the company to 24 million our 2nd year in business. I sold my interest in 1991 and began to look for ways to create a residual income that would allow me to “uncouple” my time from being transactional or limited. I worked with several companies that were simply not built to last, and spent a few years doing commercials and musical theater. In 2007, I began working in the medical aesthetics industry with plastics, derms and medspas. This was a field I loved, but I traveled a lot, and in 2009, my daughter’s father passed away, and I needed to replace 2 six figure incomes to be with my daughter as we healed. I was introduced to Nuskin in August 2011, and realized that this could be a company that could deliver on all my expectations of lifestyle, legacy and a willable income to my daughter. 5 months after I began, I was able to replace my income and it has been a joy to mentor and coach my team since. We operate in 50 markets and are about to open India, and are launching a portable device that will measure nutritional absorption in 15 seconds. Like the Oura ring, or whoop band, this biohacking device will revolutionize the supplement market and be a lie-detector test for whether the foods or supplements we take into our body are actually working. I am excited about this!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
A kite only flies against the wind – not with it, so understand the resistance is to build strength. A winner is just a loser who tried one more time. Finding YOUR path is not always easy or comfortable – but worth it. The road of the entrepreneur can be lonely and filled with failures, so choose wise coaches. The key is to have a “why” that is bigger than whatever the current obstacle is – and to keep going. ‘The dream must be bigger than the fear.
Recognize that everything is “on the way” and not “in the way” – and the deepest traumas or setbacks will become part of your story and even your “super power” because of what you learned as you overcame and found the blessing in the crisis; the source of the wisdom with which you lead.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
The three major things that keep people from living their best life, are the lack of time, the lack of health or the lack of money. When people are able to create an income stream that allows them to pursue their passions, life is sweet.
Working in the medical aesthetics industry, I realized that all of the “treatments”, injections or procedures were only treating the signs of aging, and were both expensive and temporary. I began working with scientists specializing in gene expression, and learned that there were non-invasive ways of addressing the signs of aging.
I specialize in accessing the highest priorities my customers and affiliates express, and customizing a protocol or plan to realize those expecations.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Find your purpose; what drives you and what you would do if time and money were no object.
Seek mentors that are doing what you want to do and learn from their journeys.
Realize you have everything inside you that you need to succeed and that WHEN you hit obstacles that you will either “skill up” and break through that concentric ring as you evolve, or you will get into a repeated pattern of “infatuation, then resentment” and then quit to seek a greener pasture.
The greatest enemy is your own self doubt. This is your life – so be bold in the pursuit of what you love, and be unwavering in your quest for it.
