Exploring Life & Business with Junye Butler of Artluvas LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Junye Butler.

Hi Junye , so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’ve been an artist for over 15 years — creating everything from abstract paintings to custom brims and one-of-a-kind fashion pieces. Art has always been a part of who I am, and I’ve always wanted to build something that reflects culture, creativity, and authenticity.
The idea for my vintage store came from wanting to bring something different to the hood — a place that represented style, history, and self-expression. I wanted people in my community to have access to dope vintage pieces without having to travel across town. It was about showing that art and fashion belong everywhere, not just in certain spaces.
With the support of my wife, who believed in my vision from day one, we made it happen together. She pushed me to turn my ideas into reality, and together we built something that stands for creativity, love, and community.
Every piece in the “STO” tells a story — just like I do through my art. For me, this isn’t just business, it’s purpose. It’s about inspiring others to create, to believe, and to know that they can make something powerful right where they are.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Like most entrepreneurs and artists, I’ve faced my share of challenges. Starting a business takes faith, patience, and a lot of sacrifice. There were times when I didn’t know if things would work out — from finding the right location, to funding the vision, to balancing creativity with the reality of business.
There were also moments of doubt and frustration, especially trying to bring something different to the community when not everyone understands your vision at first. But I stayed focused, kept creating, and kept showing up.
Having my wife’s support through all of it made a huge difference. We pushed through the hard times together and stayed committed to what we believed in. Those struggles built character and made the wins even more meaningful.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My business is Art Luvas LLC, located in Houston. It’s more than just a vintage store — it’s an experience. We specialize in one-of-one vintage clothing, custom-painted pieces, rare accessories, and statement fashion that blends art, culture, and individuality. Every item in the store tells a story, and I take pride in curating pieces that have soul and history behind them.
What sets us apart is our originality and authenticity. You won’t find cookie-cutter fashion here — everything in the shop has been hand-selected or custom-created with intention. I also bring my artistic background into the business, so many of the pieces are painted, reworked, or styled in a way that transforms them into wearable art.
I’m most proud that we’ve created something real in the community — a space that feels creative, inclusive, and inspiring. It’s not just about selling clothes; it’s about connection. People come in and feel the vibe, they leave with confidence and something that reflects who they are.
I want readers to know that Art Luvas is built on love, culture, and creativity. Whether you’re shopping for a rare vintage jacket, a custom brim, or just coming to be inspired — you’ll feel that energy the moment you walk through the door.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
I pull inspiration from a lot of different places — not just traditional business books or podcasts. I listen to things that feed my creativity and mindset. Sometimes that’s motivational talks, art interviews, or music that gets me in the zone.
Apps like Instagram and Pinterest actually help me a lot too — not just for promoting my brand, but for keeping my creative eye sharp. I study color, texture, and style trends while still staying true to my own lane.
I’m big on self-growth and discipline, so I tune in to podcasts like Earn Your Leisure and The Pivot Podcast — they keep me motivated and focused on building something that lasts.
But honestly, my biggest resource is real life — conversations with people, time in the store, seeing how art and fashion connect with everyday life. That’s where I learn and grow the most.
