Today we’d like to introduce you to Syrina Peña.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
While completing my MBA, I got a spark to start my own business. I wasn’t necessarily sure in what, but waited patiently for the right thing to find me.
At the beginning of this year, my dad sent me a reel on Facebook of this woman making magnets and I was so fascinated. She was talking about her journey and what she loves about it and I thought “this is something I’d love to do!”.
Over the next few months I did a lot of research on the equipment and supplies needed (thankfully @memorymagnets.co on instagram had perfect kits and were so transparent about what worked for them), the market, how to advertise, and how to build my website and slowly but surely it all started to come together.
I launched in June of this year and have attended several markets around the Houston area as well as have a website that is open for orders to ship daily!
As I’ve gotten a system down, I’m starting to expand into the event industry as a unique photo opportunity for guests to leave with a personalized keepsake, as well as creating bulk advertisements for businesses!
It’s been so special to see the pictures everyone chooses to create a keepsake either for themselves or to gift.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Thankfully, yes! The biggest hurdle is trying to time events with the supplies I either bring or have as inventory in general, as my supplies can take over a month to come in, I have to make sure I’m estimating correctly for events and the amount of supplies I have, but so far I have been right on point!
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about SnAPshots Custom Photo Magnets?
A really special aspect of my business is that I have my husbands full support in creating a new business while we also both work full time on top of raising our baby girl who is about to be 2!
I wanted to incorporate him into the name while also using some part of my name and that’s when it hit me!
His nickname for me is S and his initials are AP and when designing our logo, my designer suggested we have the magnet in the name so that’s where you will see the “n”, it fits perfect as S n AP – my favorite play on words!
In terms of being set apart, not a lot of people are making magnets on the spot as I do at my markets!
My turnaround time outside of my pop up markets is typically 24 hours, so it’s a great timeframe for a last minute gift or party favor!
Also stepping into the events scene is unique in itself because it’s not your traditional Photo Booth with a strip that might get lost – it’s a keepsake you can leave on your fridge to always remember the event!
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up you could always find me with a book, now that I’m done with my studies, I’ve picked the hobby back up and it’s so great to find myself in these stories again!
You could also find me at a lot of local sporting events supporting my friends mainly in soccer, but occasionally volleyball, basketball, and football!
Personality wise, id like to think I was kind and full of life ready to have any adventure with family and friends!
