Hi Aisha, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
R&B Dog Bakery was born out of love and a mission to make a difference — inspired by my two beloved dogs, Reese and Benjamin. It all began when I celebrated Benjamin’s first birthday and excitedly bought him a store-bought cake. The next day, Benjamin became extremely ill, and after an emergency vet visit, we learned he had pancreatitis and food allergies. That experience was heartbreaking but eye-opening. I discovered that the cake he ate was high in fat and loaded with sugar, and I knew I needed to find a healthier way to celebrate our furry family members.
Determined to make a change, I began researching nutritious, human-grade ingredients that were safe for dogs. By Benjamin’s second birthday, I had baked his first healthy cake and developed a few treat recipes that he could enjoy without worry. Over time, I realized that many pet parents faced the same challenge — finding all-natural, nutrient-rich dog treats they could trust. In 2018, R&B Dog Bakery officially opened with just four treat flavors and one cupcake variety, debuting at a craft fair in Bedford, Texas. The enthusiastic response from our community encouraged us to continue, and soon we were selling at local farmers markets. By 2022, we proudly opened our first retail location in Arlington, Texas.
Today, R&B Dog Bakery offers over 30 SKUs, including doggy donuts, macarons, custom cakes, and food toppers. As a self-taught baker, I’ve refined each recipe and design technique, making our custom cakes one of our top-selling products. Our goal remains clear: to provide all-natural, nutrient-rich treats that combat obesity, boost vitality, and extend longevity — all while strengthening the bond between people and their pets.
We are proudly People and Planet First Certified and GO TEXAN Certified, standing by our commitment to sustainability and community impact. Through our partnership with Paws 4 A Cause Pet Food Pantry, we donate 2% of our profits to help support pets in need. Today, R&B Dog Bakery continues to grow, with our products now available on Walmart Marketplace, BLAPP the App, Pixee Paws Pet Palace, Brick City Pets, and Lucky Pup Grooming. What started as one dog’s story has become a movement — one that celebrates love, wellness, and the joy our pets bring to our lives.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road, but every challenge has shaped the business into what it is today. In the beginning, I faced the typical struggles of a small business owner — balancing work, family, and entrepreneurship while trying to build brand awareness with limited resources. I started with no formal training in baking or business, so there was a lot of learning through trial and error. From perfecting recipes to finding the right suppliers for high-quality ingredients, every step required patience and persistence.
Transitioning from farmers markets to opening our first retail location brought a new set of challenges — managing inventory, scaling production, and maintaining the handmade quality our customers love. There were moments of doubt, especially during times when sales were slow or costs ran high. But each obstacle reinforced my commitment to the mission: creating healthy, all-natural treats that make a difference in the lives of dogs and their families.
Looking back, those struggles have become part of our story. They’ve helped me grow not only as an entrepreneur but as a leader in building a purpose-driven brand that prioritizes people, pets, and the planet.

What began as a personal mission to create safe and nutritious treats for my own dogs, Reese and Benjamin, has grown into a thriving brand that celebrates the bond between people and their pets.
We’re best known for our custom celebration cakes and pastries that allow families to include their furbabies in life’s most special moments which includes Birthdays, Gotcha Day, Gender Reveal and House Warmings. Every recipe is made with purpose — from our Salmon Bites enriched with omega fatty acids to our Pumpkin Pies that blend flavor and function. Our treats are not just beautifully made — they’re thoughtfully designed to support vitality and longevity.
What I’m most proud of is how far we’ve come — from our humble beginnings at local farmers markets to now being featured in major markets like Walmart Marketplace, Pixee Paws Pet Palace, Lucky Pup Grooming, and BLAPP the App. We’ve also earned recognition as both People & Planet First Certified and Go Texan Certified, reflecting our ongoing commitment to sustainability and community impact.
Speaking at my first conference at Sustainable Brands 2025 in San Diego was an incredible milestone that reinforced just how far our journey has come and how much potential lies ahead. In addition, I’m honored to be an alumna of the Watson Institute, where I completed the Walmart Retail Readiness Entrepreneurship Training Program, and to have been selected as a Semi-Finalist for the Alibaba 2025 Pitch Competition — experiences that continue to inspire me to grow as an impact-driven entrepreneur.
