Life & Work with Lindsey Bryan of Historic Downtown Montgomery Tx

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindsey Bryan.

Hi Lindsey, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
The Painted Potter Studio started as a dream that blended two things I love – creativity and connection. As a wife and mom of three, life is wonderfully busy and full, but I’ve always believed in the importance of slowing down and creating moments that really matter. I wanted to build a space where families and friends could come together, unplug, and create something meaningful. I’m from a small town in South East Tx but have been apart of the Montgomery area now since 2011.
When I opened the studio in 2024 – my youngest child had just started kindergarten and I decided it was time to bring something new into our lives and into the small charming town of Montgomery. My goal was to make it warm, approachable, and a little bit magical – a place where anyone, from kids to grandparents, could feel proud of what they create. Over time, it’s become so much more than just a pottery studio; it’s a community where laughter, color, and creativity all come together.
Being a mom and a wife shapes everything about how I run the business. I put people first – my employees, my customers, and the experience. Watching someone light up when they see what they’ve made – that never gets old. That’s what keeps me inspired every day.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
As with opening any new business, there has been struggles. The main struggle was adjusting to being a small business owner and balancing motherhood. I’ve found my footing though and can thankfully say we’ve been incredibly blessed with the most amazing customers, loyal employees and amazing success.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I was a stay-at-home mom when I decided to open The Painted Potter. I knew that for it to truly succeed — and for my vision to come to life — the location would be key. Choosing the quaint, historic part of Montgomery really set us apart from other paint-your-own-pottery studios. We’re a small studio ourselves, so fitting into that small-town charm came naturally.
I actually designed the space with adults in mind, knowing the kids would follow. I wanted to create an atmosphere that felt elevated and relaxing, while still being completely family-friendly. I think we’ve really achieved that — it’s a space where both parents and kids feel at home. It blends my two worlds perfectly — the creative entrepreneur and the mom.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Hang in there. You will adjust to the new-ness and before you know it the entire business is just a part of your bones.
