An Inspired Chat with Susan Thiele of Katy

Susan Thiele shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Susan , so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What are you being called to do now, that you may have been afraid of before?
The need to paint literally gives me the desire to get up in the morning. I now interact on social media via my artwork. Every morning I post a beautiful image to give my followers a hopeful and positive image for a new day.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Art has always been my passion. After my children left for college I took a teaching job as an art teacher. Teaching art made me realize how much I enjoy creating. I then joined an art league. I learned so much from being with other artists, but I realized I only want to paint. I do not want to compete or go to meetings. I created my studio space in my home. After 16 years of painting professionally, there is no where I would rather be than home painting.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My mother encouraged me in all artistic realms. My childhood was filled with art and ballet lessons. Many trips to museums were our outings. I was exposed to gine art at a very young age.

When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
I did not want to get up in the mornings after my dear parents passed and my children left home. I did not feel purpose in my life. I painted a fee things at home snd took them to be framed at a local framing shop here in Katy, Texas. The owner asked if she could sell my work. I was so excited and said “of course”! My pain and sadness changed into exhilaration and the anticipation of a brighter tomorrow.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Life is short and should be lived to the fullest. I am proof to never go e up on hour dreams. Hard work pays off. Money should never be the goal in creativity. Passion is what makes one goof at any task.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
I would tell myself and others to pursue your dreams. Everyone has a gift! Do not worry what other people think! Be honest to yourself. Don’t copy others. Be uniand be yourself.
