Story & Lesson Highlights with Michael Cole of Cypress

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Michael Cole. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Michael, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: When was the last time you felt true joy?
Visiting Greenwich Connecticut during the Hagerty Greenwich Concourse d’Elegance. The old-world energy and the stunning classic architecture of Connecticut spoke to my soul. I loved how the energy of Greenwich never felt rushed and just felt natural to me. I felt like my soul was truly satiated.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Oddly enough, my vocation literally fell into my lap (the universe works in mysterious ways). I have always been a giant automotive fanatic since I was in my single digits. One day, when I was attending Houston Coffee and Cars, I ran into my business partner, who offered me a position at High Tech Corvette. It was my job to go out and find content, drive the company car and run the social channels. And because of being in the social media sector for almost 2 decades, I have learned how to grow social channels organically to massive sizes, and that’s what I do for a living. I have had friends and acquaintances at times call me a social media guru which has taken me to where I am today as a social media consultant.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
I would say my first time that I was on stage. I knew logically that I was supposed to feel intimidated or scared, but I just never felt that. In fact, it was quite the opposite, and I felt a huge rush knowing that I was getting to entertain people and make them smile. Watching all the people laugh and clap in a sense became a sort of a drug for me at the time. One could argue that that’s what got the ball rolling.

What’s something you changed your mind about after failing hard?
An old German is saying, ” It’s only failure if you don’t learn from it”. That has helped me tremendously, and I hope and pray that it helps someone else out there. It was Thomas Edison who said, “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work”. I could go on forever on the subject of failure!

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What do you believe is true but cannot prove?
That quantum entanglement actually connects us to source. But that’s a deep conversation….

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
Born to do. And if it kills me, at least I died fighting for who I am and where I want to go, along with living life on MY TEARMS! You only get one life, stop existing and start living, you’re not fooling yourself and as time ticks by a little bit of you dies with every tick of the clock since you decided to lie to yourself and settle!
