We’re looking forward to introducing you to Etchane Towers. Check out our conversation below.
Etchane, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What is a normal day like for you right now?
A normal day consists taking my son to 5:40 AM practice, then to the gym, and then to work. After that, I am fully immersed in the kitchen and winding down for the day. If it’s a weekend, then there’s no football practice, and I actually can go for a run in the morning.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Etch & Mar’ket provides innovative culinary solutions for its clients throughout the Houston metropolitan area, and the US. Et’Chane started off as a small business in Atlanta and is now focusing on culinary events and services nationwide. Originally, like most entrepreneurs, Et’Chane was working out of his own kitchen, meal prepping for clients, and helping with baby showers, small birthday parties, and other events. Word of mouth spread throughout the city, and he began doing catering for major companies like CNN, BET Networks, and Georgia Power. Et’Chane ended up moving to Houston be near family and re-launched the business in the Houston market. My passion, attention to detail, and the ability to bring unique culinary experiences to customers is what I live for. All of my clients are delighted when they receive the ‘etch’ experience!
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who taught you the most about work?
My mother, a single mom, taught me the most about work and work ethic. She had no choice but to work, and she had to raise three children on her own. Although she didn’t have an advanced degree, she did whatever it took to further her career to provide for her family. Even going to college for a few classes was an exciting thing for me to see her do and accomplish.
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
Fear of failure has held me back alot. There are several moments in life where i’ve been asked to do something, and I just said no to avoid embarrassment. I realize now that I have so much potential and resources behind me, that those times I thought I would fail, I probably would have succeeded had I simply tried.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
I want to publish a cookbook. It’s scary, and seems to be an intense time commitment, which I’m already struggling with time management.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
If I retired tomorrow, people would miss my infectious smile, the laughter, and warmth that I bring to all spaces.
