Meet Amanda of Massage Fanatics

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda.

Hi Amanda, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I went to massage school to pay for my college tuition but when I was in Memorial Hermann Massage and Spa Therapy School in 2011, I fell in love. I spent my beginning years working my craft in clinics, spas, and franchises learning from the absolute best therapist and owners of the businesses. In 2017, I worked multiple jobs to start my mobile practice. In 2018, I won Houston Regional for Massage Therapist of the Year for Massage Envy. In 2020, a month prior to covid, I opened up my own office. Terrified of the unknown we were all walking into, I wasn’t sure what was going to happen to my profession. But my community and the support of my clients came through and I flourished in a season of uncertainty. I have loved my craft from the beginning and I strive to show that every day,

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I opened my office a month prior to covid. With the shutdown I wasn’t entirely sure how it was all going to work out for my business and my profession as a whole. I stayed a float with the earnings and wages with my second job with Massage Envy (West Firethorne) and the help of my office leasers.

Having my baby girl (Elizabeth) and losing my baby nephew (Ian) all in the same year (2022) was taxing on my spirit and my drive. I struggled for a while with the emotional journey but with the help of my husband, family, friends, and the most important God, I have been able to see the blessings of both babies in my life.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Massage Fanatics?
I’ve been a massage therapist and a massage therapist instructor for over 1o years with a passion for my clients and meeting their goals. When I hear “I was able to walk without pain,” “the jaw pain is gone,” “my pregnancy pains are bearable,” it brings me so much joy. And that’s why I continue my education every year learning something new. I’ve been able to acquire knowledge on many modalities to help customize the sessions to fit the needs of the clients. Whether it’s deep tissue, sports massage, trigger point therapy, prenatal massage, and many others I do my best to mold myself and to constantly have new techniques to offer.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Community. Find your people and then treat them good. Find ways to make sure they know they are valued and they will in return take care of your business.
