Today we’d like to introduce you to Javier Hearne.
Hi Javier, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’m born and raised in Houston. I picked up a camera firstly to start doing YouTube shorts and Day In the Life Content , and while being a broke college student, I decided to learn how to make money with my camera. I started filming the Greeks on the campus of Texas Southern University for free to learn the ropes and eventually graduated to getting booked by campus Administration for student events. I used some of my friends to shoot free music videos to practice improving my skillset and became very active in the Houston nightlife & hip hop community. Eventually my talent earned me recognition from some of the top rappers in the city and before I knew it, I was working w/ artist like Sauce Walka, Deebaby, Lil Boosie & Coi Leray just to name a few. Since then, I’ve continued perfecting my craft in film and I’ve earned a platinum plaque producing for OG Bobby Billions & Moe3 on the Outside record. I also sung background vocals on the song. Today I’m continuing to expand my portfolio and hope to continue to be able to provide dope art for the city
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not always, some struggles I dealt with early on was not having the resources I needed to produce at the level I knew I could. Also, creating a product that felt worthy enough to show to potential customers, was also difficult without having budgets to work with. When I first started, I didn’t own my own computer to edit off of so I would borrow friends from school. & when I bought my first Mac Mini, it didn’t come w/ a monitor so I would unplug the monitors in the school library in order to work while at school
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Im a music video director/ editor/ production company owner. I specialize in filming & editing all sorts of content like weddings, reality tv shows, music video, events, and commercials, as well as music videos & a variety of other things. I also produce music as well. I’m most known for my creative editing style and well roundedness with the camera. I think my natural ability to makes ordinary images look dope sets me apart from others and my editing style that syncs to the beat with cool effects. I am most proud of the fact that I put my mind to something and have been self-sufficient for over 12 years now but now I want to work with bigger artist and continue to challenge myself
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I want to outsource more work to other directors in Houston, and work w/ bigger artist and brands. I’m looking to start my network and focus on highlighting individuals that are key players in the city.
