Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My name is Kaylee Humes, and I’m a Wedding Coordinator serving the greater Houston area. I actually began my career as an elementary teacher, where I learned how to manage large groups, stay on schedule, communicate clearly, and keep all the moving pieces organized which, as it turns out, translates beautifully into wedding coordination.
I taught for seven years, and while I loved my students, I knew I was ready for something new. I’ve always had a natural love for planning events, parties, and, of course, weddings. A close friend of mine who is a wedding photographer encouraged me to step into the wedding world, and once I got a behind-the-scenes look, I was hooked.
I launched my business in May 2024 and haven’t looked back. Helping couples feel at ease, bringing their vision to life, and making their day run seamlessly is truly what I love to do. It’s an honor to play a role in one of the most meaningful days of someone’s life, and I’m grateful for every couple I get to walk alongside.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. When I first started my business, I was juggling being a wife, a mom, and a full-time teacher. There were stretches where I was genuinely exhausted, pouring myself into the classroom during the day and then into my business at night. But the joy I felt doing this work kept me moving forward. One of the hardest decisions I made was choosing to step away from teaching. I realized that if I wanted to grow and give my couples the best of me, I couldn’t keep trying to give 100% to everything at once. It was a leap of faith.
What has carried me through is the community around me. My husband, my family, my mentor, each of them has been a steady support. I also made it a point to connect with vendors and learn from those who have been in the industry longer than me. The wedding community is incredibly generous, and being surrounded by people who genuinely want to see others succeed has made such a difference.
I’ve made mistakes. I’ve had to pause, reflect, ask questions, and get better. And through every challenge, God has been my peace, reminding me that I’m not doing this alone. He continues to place the right people in my life at the right time. Without Him, and without the support system He’s given me, I wouldn’t be where I am today.

Partial Planning: This is a more hands-on approach where I help you choose and secure vendors and guide you through key planning decisions leading up to the big day.
Content Creation: Real-time, unedited photos and videos taken on an iPhone throughout your wedding day, delivered within 24 hours. It’s natural, candid, and authentic, capturing the genuine moments you’ll want to relive instantly.
At the end of the day, I’m most proud that my couples feel seen, supported, and celebrated. Every wedding is a story, and I consider it an honor to help tell yours.
How do you think about happiness?
What makes me happy is serving others. I’ve always found joy in being surrounded by friends and family, so getting to build a career centered around celebration, love, and togetherness truly feels like a gift. A wedding day is such a special moment, two families coming together, memories being made, and a couple stepping into a new chapter of life.
Being able to support my couples on that day and watch those once-in-a-lifetime moments unfold, seeing each other at the altar, the first kiss as husband and wife, the laughter and dancing surrounded by everyone they love, fills me with so much joy. By the end of every wedding night, my heart is completely full. It’s an honor to serve people on one of the most meaningful and joyful days of their lives.
