Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr Kevin Kelly.
Hi Dr Kevin, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My love for math began in 8th grade with an inspiring algebra teacher who made numbers come alive. That spark grew into a lifelong passion for problem-solving and learning. I pursued a degree in Chemical Engineering, where I designed petrochemical plants using Lotus, and later transitioned to M&A modeling in business school. Yet, through every career turn, one thread remained constant — my love for teaching.
Whether helping colleagues understand complex spreadsheets or teaching youth at church, I’ve always found joy in sharing knowledge and watching understanding take root in others. That passion led me to earn a doctorate in Instructional Design, combining my analytical background with my heart for teaching.
Today, through Excel training, data analytics, and mentoring, I embrace the gifts the Lord has given me — using numbers as a language to teach, serve, and glorify Him. I’m grateful for how God has guided each step of my journey, shaping me into who I am today: The Analytics Doctor — called to teach, to serve, and to make learning come alive for others.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Every time I reach the book of James, I get a little nervous — because I know it’s about faith being tested and refined. The Lord has brought us through so much over the years. His challenge to us has often come in the area of finances. From layoffs and disagreements at work to economic downturns and even times when pay didn’t come through, each moment has been an opportunity to trust Him more deeply.
And now, with the uncertainty around DOGE and the government shutdown slowing down much of our revenue, I sense that same gentle reminder from the Lord: “Trust Me.”
It’s not easy, but every trial has built our faith stronger than before. We’ve seen His faithfulness time and again — and even when resources run low, His provision never does. This season is just another chapter in His ongoing lesson: that our security isn’t in markets or jobs or income, but in the unshakable goodness of Jesus.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
The Analytics Doctor was born out of a lifelong love for learning, problem-solving, and teaching. From designing petrochemical plants as a chemical engineer to modeling mergers and acquisitions in business school, and later earning a doctorate in Instructional Design, my journey has always been guided by one truth — knowledge becomes most powerful when it’s shared.
At The Analytics Doctor, we specialize in data-driven training, Excel mastery, and analytics education that empowers individuals and teams to work smarter, not harder. Whether through custom Excel dashboards, process improvement tools, or hands-on workshops, our mission is to make analytics accessible, practical, and meaningful.
What sets us apart is our unique blend of technical expertise, instructional design, and faith-driven purpose. We don’t just teach what buttons to hit — we help learners understand why things work the way they do. Our goal is not only to build skill but also confidence and curiosity. And we have a lot of fun along the way! Tools like Kahoot! bring energy and friendly competition to our classes, making learning engaging, memorable, and enjoyable.
We’re most proud of how our brand reflects both excellence and encouragement. The Analytics Doctor isn’t just about numbers — it’s about transformation. Every training, spreadsheet, and consultation is designed to equip others to thrive, both professionally and personally.
What we want readers to know is simple: we exist to teach, serve, and inspire. Whether you’re a business leader needing better reporting, a team wanting to improve your data skills, or an individual looking to build confidence in Excel, The Analytics Doctor provides the tools and teaching to help you succeed — with integrity, excellence, joy, and faith at the center of it all.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
If I had to choose one quality that has shaped my success, it would be patience — meeting people where they are. Whether I’m helping a student learn Excel, guiding a colleague through a tough problem, or walking my mom step-by-step through her computer over the phone, I’ve learned that growth takes time and grace.
For me, it’s never just about getting to the end result — it’s about the journey, not the destination. Every “aha!” moment, every small step of understanding, is a chance to celebrate progress and build confidence. That’s what teaching — and life — is all about.
I believe success isn’t defined by titles or achievements, but by how we live and serve others along the way. My goal is simple: to live well, teach well, and love well — using the gifts God has given me to help others discover their own.
