Daily Inspiration: Meet Lucy Love

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lucy Love.

Hi Lucy, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I began my career working as a sales administrator for a children’s playground manufacturing company in my small hometown in the UK. I enjoyed my job, but as someone who’s always been very creative, I was craving a creative outlet outside of work which led me to create my fashion blog in the spring of 2014. I worked really hard to grow my blog in the evenings and on the weekends, networking as often as I could and this led to me beginning to work with brands and attend influencer events. My boss soon caught on to this, and offered me the opportunity to try out for a marketing role which had recently become available – I produced some example blog posts, press releases and social media posts for the company and was instantly hired as their Marketing Coordinator.
I then set my sights on London, and realized that in order to get a marketing job in the capital I would need more experience, so I got a job with a marketing agency in Manchester before eventually landing a role in social media for a financial services company in London. During this time I continued to grow my blog, working with bigger brands and beginning to take on some paid collaborations too – this was really at the beginning of the first wave of the influencer boom and it was so exciting to see the industry growing so quickly.
I thrived in London, quickly being promoted from the social media role into a more traditional marketing role, and eventually becoming Head of Marketing for the company – at the same time my blog was growing even more and I began collaborating with household names such as UGG, Calvin Klein, Converse & even being selected to be a part of a Taylor Swift album launch campaign. It was around this time that I decided I wanted to go freelance and see how far I could grow my client base, so I moved back home and gave myself 12 months to make freelance work for me or I’d go back into traditional employment – my first year was very successful, I won multiple national and international awards for clients, achieved numerous press features, and grew my client list, but then COVID happened and I lost 98% of my business within 3 days. It was also around the time that I had a major car accident, which forced me to stop blogging as I was unable to create content with my injuries.
I didn’t lose sight of my goals, and continued pushing to save my business, eventually bringing on more clients to fill the gap, and once the lockdowns were over and I was able to travel again, I treated myself to a few weeks in Florida catching up with friends who lived out there. It was in a bar in West Palm Beach that I was headhunted for a marketing director role for a company based in the US, and the rest is history – I moved over here in 2023 and haven’t looked back.
In the past 12 months, I have been awarded three global awards for my efforts in marketing in niche/highly regulated industries,
In late 2024, I moved to my current role which is Houston based, where I head up the marketing department for Banyan Risk Group, an integrated risk management and protective intelligence firm, and ROWAN Security, boutique security provider focusing on premium executive protection solutions. In March 2025, I relocated to Houston, knowing nobody in the city. It was around this time that I posted a video to TikTok talking about starting over in your 30s and the difficulty of being alone in a new city – I was hoping I’d maybe get a few people asking me to go for a coffee, but instead the response was overwhelming. In a short time, I’ve built up a highly-engaged local audience of over 10,000 people who follow along with my journey of exploring my new home and building a new life.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s definitely not been a smooth road.

Starting over. again twice in your early 30’s is incredibly hard – and especially moving abroad for the first time and having to build up financial history from scratch again, learn the way that every day things like the Post Office work in a new country, and having to learn to drive again (on the wrong side of the road). It’s been incredibly lonely and overwhelming at times, but it’s also been a very powerful opportunity for growth for me, and I’ve certainly risen to every challenge along the way. I’m really proud of myself for that.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I would class myself as a multi-faceted professional.

I specialize in Marketing and Content Writing for highly unique and regulated businesses – my clients have included private intelligence and security providers, investment firms, financial institutions and politicians. Providing creative services in specialized/regulated industries like these requires a much different approach than marketing for fashion/lifestyle/wellness brands. I am known for taking dense/heavy/dry topics and making them engaging, informative and digestible for audiences – I believe that every brand deserves creative marketing, regardless of the industry they’re in. In the past 12 months I’ve won several global awards for my efforts including the Global 100 Best Marketing Director award, a Women in Leadership award, and a Global Recognition award for marketing. I’ve also recently been included on the Who’sWho in America list for 2026.

I also create content on the side through TikTok primarily, and Youtube. My content largely revolves around my journey of starting over in my 30s, and I really enjoy connecting with others who are in a similar life stage. I’ve build a very engaged audience of over 10,000 individuals who are following along with my journey exploring Houston and building my life here, and I’m very proud of the community I have created. I’m hoping in 2026 I can collaborate with some local businesses to provide more exposure for them online, and encourage my audience to interact with them.

My proudest achievement is, without a doubt, qualifying for my US visa. It is such a privilege to be here and I couldn’t be more grateful for the opportunity!
