Check Out Ashley Watkins’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Watkins.

Ashley, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
The inspiration to become a wedding planner started way back when I was a kid, sitting in front of the TV watching The Wedding Planner starring Jennifer Lopez. I know — so cliché, right? But that movie truly woke something up in me.

As I grew older, that little spark turned into action. I started decorating for small parties and helping out at family reunions with my mom. (Fun fact: my mom is part of the team now — she inspired me just as much as J.Lo did!)

I officially found my niche when I came home after my freshman year of college and decided to take a wedding and event planning course. Around that same time, my mom got remarried, and I planned her entire wedding. After that, I became the family’s go-to planner for every event.

Life shifted once I started having kids, so I took a little hiatus. But after COVID, something in me said it was time to step back into my purpose. Then one of my best friends — who is also one of my mentors — got engaged and told me, “Ashley, you have to do my wedding.”

That moment flipped the light switch back on… except this time, the spark came with a fire behind it.

And that’s how Roes Wedding & Events came into full manifestation.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
One of my biggest struggles came when I started having children. Life set in fast, and at that time I felt like I needed something more consistent to provide for them. So I stepped away from wedding planning, even though a part of me never stopped loving it.

But the thing about purpose is… it always finds its way back to you. No matter how far you drift, it taps you on the shoulder and reminds you who you are. And eventually, that’s exactly what happened with me and wedding planning.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
At Roes Wedding & Events, I specialize in full-service wedding planning, event coordination, and designing unforgettable experiences that feel deeply personal to each couple. My passion lies in taking someone’s vision — even the pieces they can’t quite put into words — and turning it into a seamless, beautiful, stress-free celebration.

I’m known for my calm but commanding presence on wedding day, my attention to detail, and my ability to handle challenges before anyone even knows they exist. I bring warmth, organization, and creativity into every event, and my clients trust me because I treat their wedding as if it were my own family’s.

One of the things I’m most proud of is how many couples and families tell me that I made their wedding feel easy. Hearing, “I didn’t worry about anything because you had it handled,” is the biggest reward for me. I’m also incredibly proud of the fact that this business started as a childhood spark, grew through family support, paused when life shifted, and came back stronger once I stepped fully into my purpose.

What sets me apart is my story — and my heart.
I grew up watching my mom decorate and create joy for people, and now she’s part of my team. I’ve been the family wedding planner, the friend who handles it all, and the professional who built a brand from passion and perseverance. I understand weddings not just from a logistical standpoint, but from a place of love, family, culture, and memory-making.

Couples choose Roes Wedding & Events because we don’t just plan events — we create moments that feel like home, elevated.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
As mentioned before, my mom is a huge part of my story and my success. She’s one of the main reasons I became a wedding and event planner in the first place. Growing up, I watched her decorate events, create beautiful spaces, and bring joy to people through celebrations. That’s really where the seed was planted for me.

Today, we work together as a mother-daughter duo within Roes Wedding & Events, and it’s one of the most meaningful parts of my business. We balance each other, support each other, and bring two generations of creativity into every event. When clients hire us, they’re truly getting a team that feels like family — because we are.

I also have a mentor who has played a major role in my journey. She has always encouraged me, pushed me, and reminded me to never give up on myself. She was the person who gave me that final nudge when I needed it most — the spark that helped me return to what I was always destined to do.

Between my mom and my mentor, I’m surrounded by strong, supportive women who helped shape Roes Wedding & Events into what it is today.
