Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamie Putch.
Hi Jamie, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Hello! Fellow cat-kitty-furball lovers, this is Jamie Putch from the DamaskCats. My love for pets and caring for cats goes way back to my childhood when I first cared for my silky black cat Midnight, and Holly. Both whom ended up living into her golden years. You know, I used to be scared of cats, but slowly things changed. Cats are forever companions who stick with you and live in your heart forever. Providing cats with the best possible life is so important. In this economy, affordability is extremely important, and that’s what my YouTube Channel “The DamaskCats” focuses on—discovering priceless, stylish, and incredibly affordable fun cat products.
I like to provide shopping opportunities, online deals, and discount resources for your local stores. Also, providing in-depth videos of me trying products with the cats. I’ve been on YouTube since 2016, starting with my cats Jupiter and Jubliee. You can find us on all of the social media right now. It’s been a few years, and we’ve grown so much. It’s been so fun to search for helpful resources for everybody to enjoy, from low-income cat vaccination locations to black Friday deals. Thanks for letting me share my little world with you and your fluffy cats. Let’s make their lives softer without breaking the budget.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Cats fill my life with such warmth and happiness, and I want to share resources with everyone. Not everyone has the means to provide their beloved pets with the vital care they may need. Vets are expensive for me and my pet Jupiter; it was an emergency situation. Finding help at the local Houston Humane Society helped save Jupiter countless times. It was quite a drive, but they saved her and gave us affordable options. Jupiter ended up going to the Houston Humane Society for things like a broken leg, and last was for cancer removal.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I work in the mental healthcare field. I’ve worked for years, from a technician to now, trying to pursue my master’s degree in counseling. I love caring for others, and it’s been about over 14 years now. Although I can’t get into specifics of my career field, I can say it is one of my truest passions to care for people. Pets are in many ways therapeutic animals, and I can only see growth in pets supporting people in need.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
No changes for me currently. I feel content with my course in life. Only positive choices and happy decisions. I will always love pets and will forever care for people with mental health needs. In my life of care for others, 5 to 10 years seem like nothing. I hope people begin to recognize the need to value their mental health and make it a priority. And through it all I’ll keep loving pets because their quiet company has a way of reminding us to breathe and stay present, and care for our mental health every single day.
