Hi Shea , thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’m a single mother who has always strived to be the best version of myself so I can set a positive example for my children and be an inspiration to others.
I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit within me, but I was too afraid of failing. I felt I couldn’t take a risk because I have two sons to provide for.
After being laid off- TWICE, I decided to take a leap of faith and put my time and energy into something I’m very passionate about- my business.
After many years of buying expensive lotions, perfumes etc., suffering from eczema break outs, trying to combat winter dry skin; and smell good too, it was becoming overwhelming and expensive!
Fast forward- I started using different oils and noticed my eczema hasn’t come back, my skin doesn’t suffer anymore during the winter months and my bank account thanked me! This inspired me to create my own body oils.
I love using natural oils because of the great benefits, so I wanted to create oils that smell good and looked visually appealing while nurturing the skin.
So here I am today, creating budget friendly body oils for adults and children that will help keep the skin hydrated and delicately scented.
It feels good knowing I’m doing something good, not just for me but for everyone!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Nothing in life goes smoothly all the time, especially when you’re an entrepreneur!
Delegating enough time for my business, family life etc. can be a struggle sometimes, but I do the best I can. I’m very thankful for my “Tribe” a.k.a support system, they believe in me and are always there for me wherever I need them.
Funding my business can also be challenging too. I don’t want to charge too much for my body oils because the economy isn’t the best right now- I haven’t made much of a profit yet. It doesn’t bother me much because I love creating my body oils, I truly enjoy it.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I believe that I’m a natural creator who loves to bring beauty to the surface while helping people feel good. After many years of working at law firms/corporate world, getting laid off forced me to stop running from my purpose and to put a plan in motion because I still have bills to pay and a family to support.
I am a firm believer that things happen for a reason and if you learn to “ride the wave” and don’t resist, time will eventually unravel and reveal why things needed to happen the way it did.
If I never had gotten laid off, my dreams of becoming a successful entrepreneur wouldn’t get the chance to go into fruition, due to fear and lack of confidence.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I was a very shy quiet child growing up due to childhood trauma and insecurities. I would never initiate conversation, but always spoke when spoken to. I loved to play card games and dress-up.
