Today we’d like to introduce you to Margaret Archer.
Hi Margaret, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I graduated from PT school in 2016 and moved to Houston to complete a neurologic residency at TIRR Memorial Hermann. While pregnant with my first son in 2023, I became interested in the field of pelvic health as I was trying to navigate how to stay strong during my pregnancy. While postpartum with my son, I was dealing with pelvic floor symptoms. At my 6 week OB appt, I was referred to a clinic but it had a 6 week waiting list. As someone who loves to exercise and was struggling adjusting to being a new mom, I felt overwhelmed of where to start and how I was going to wait 6 more weeks and manage childcare with returning back to work. In those dark weeks is where my business idea was born. I returned to my prior job at 4 months and then began completing additional educational courses and began planning to start my own business. My goal with my business was to reach women in their homes by providing in home and virtual services. I left my stable, hospital-based job and started Arrow Physio in 2023. I wanted to provide fitness-forward, evidence-informed PT services to women who needed it the most. The traditional model of waiting for 6 weeks to start exercise and having to manage taking a child (or children) to appointments doesn’t work for a lot of women so they don’t do it. Additionally, I wanted to reach women who desire to be proactive in their pelvic health through pre-conception, pregnancy and preparing for postpartum. I also have been active in the perimenopause/menopause group of women because I find that there is so much misinformation and normalizing of pelvic floor symptoms (“of course you pee, you had a baby 10 years ago”). I have been actively partnering with other providers and local gyms/moms groups to reach more women.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting my business felt like a big risk as I have always worked for a hospital system! At the hospital, I showed up and had patients and did not have to do any sort of marketing/business development. I have been learning along the way what strategies work to grow my business and relationships to build and maintain. Thankfully, my husband has his MBA and has been an incredibly helpful partner. Additionally, we got pregnant with our second child in the late fall or 2024 and he was born a month early in June of 2025. We had some health challenges with him while he was pregnant and that was difficult to show up for my business and my clients while navigating a lot of doctors’ appointments. Prior to his birth, I felt like I was reaching a sweet spot in my business and I was fearful that taking off time for maternity leave, that I would have to start over. Thankfully, my business has grown quite quickly since returning!
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I own and operate Arrow Physio. I provide mobile (in-client home) and virtual PT services. I treat women across the lifespan specializing in women experiencing pelvic floor dysfunction. Conditions I commonly treat are urinary leaking, pelvic pain, pain with intimacy, constipation, pregnancy/postpartum, chronic conditions like PCOS/endometriosis, pelvic organ prolapse, and perimenopause/menopause.
I take a fitness-forward, evidence-based approach to treatment and enjoy helping women stay active. My clinical philosophy centers on empowering women with personalized care plans that build confidence, knowledge, wellness and healing.
I am most known for my pregnancy/postpartum care. I often treat women through their pregnancy and postpartum period. I provide birth preparation visits and then i see my clients as early as 2 weeks postpartum. I have treated a lot of women preparing for and after a c-section. I truly believe that all women who are having a baby, should have pelvic floor PT services and I don’t believe our traditional medical models have supported women enough, in general, but specifically in early postpartum.
I am most proud of being able to be the safe place that helps women feel empowered and take ownership of their health. I love being able to educate women about their bodies and provide them specific treatments. One of my favorite moments is when a patient tells me, “I had sex and it didn’t hurt!” or “I was able to run without leaking!” I have been really grateful that my business has grown primarily from word of mouth and that gives me a lot of pride in knowing that people are recommending me to their friends.
I want women to know that pelvic floor symptoms are common but they are not normal and you don’t have to live with them. Things like pain with sex and peeing when you sneeze, can be common in women’s lives, especially during large hormonal changes like pregnancy/postpartum and perimenopause/menopause but there is treatment and hope for them!
How do you think about happiness?
I love helping people. I love stepping into the place where other people haven’t before and being a safe space. I want to be the person that helps a woman tackle symptoms that rarely get talked about.
I became a PT because I love to help people and I love to educate people. I derive a lot of joy from both of those things.
Outside of work, I love to spend time with my two boys (2 year old and 5 month old) and my husband. We are active in our church and enjoy hosting bible study at our house. I love to exercise and be outside. My husband calls me a sunflower because that is where I am the happiest
