Hi Belisia , thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Throughout my young adult life, I tried to find my niche. I started out doing hair, but the long hours and daily grind didn’t allow me to spend the time I wanted with my children. In the year 2000, I entered the field of dentistry and became a Dental Assistant. From the beginning of my career, I dreamed of one day owning my own dental practice, and later, my own Dental Assisting School.
After teaching at Sam Houston State University as a Dental Assistant professor, I realized I wasn’t satisfied with the programs or the curriculum style. Over time, my teaching skills grew, and so did my passion for making sure students understood both the literature and the hands-on side of dentistry. I also wanted to ensure that once students completed the program, they were prepared to move forward and secure employment.
This passion is what motivated me to start my own Dental Assistant School in December 2023.
With the way the world is evolving today, my mission has been to help every student become gainfully employed after completing the program. So far, we have had over 137 graduates, with only about a 3% dropout rate. This program has exceeded my expectations and experienced rapid growth. At this time, we are only accepting nine students per class, but in the near future, I am planning to open a second school in another county.
I believe in giving back, and I believe in providing my students with the best possible outcome. My commitment is to continue shaping strong dental professionals who can build successful careers and futures in dentistry.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Building this school has definitely been a bumpy road, but not a difficult one. I’ve been in the dental field for over 28 years, so the foundation and knowledge were already there. The biggest challenge has been finding experienced and passionate instructors who share the same level of dedication that I have. In order to grow the school and accept more students, it’s important to have strong teachers who truly care about the students’ success. That has been the main struggle throughout this journey.

What We Specialize In
We specialize in training students to become highly skilled Dental Assistants. Our program is designed to teach both hands-on skills and essential dental knowledge, ensuring students are fully prepared for real-world dental environments.
We also assist students in completing everything required to obtain their Texas Dental Assistant Registration through the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners. From training to paperwork, we guide students through each step.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was a child full of energy, creativity, and passion. I loved sports just as much as I loved art, and those two worlds shaped who I became. Whether I was on the field or creating something with my hands, I always put my heart into everything I did.
Even in grade school, I was a hard worker—focused, determined, and committed to doing my best. But at that time, I had no idea that my journey would lead me to where I am today. All I knew was that I had big dreams, even if I didn’t fully understand them yet.
Looking back now, I can proudly say that I am truly amazed at how far I’ve come. The sky is the limit, and I honestly believe this is only the beginning.
About five years ago, I spoke a vision into existence. I said out loud that I wanted to start my own school—and today, that dream is reality. I am now the owner of Cleveland Dental Assisting School, a program built with passion, purpose, and the desire to change lives.
And everything I loved growing up—discipline from sports, creativity from art, and hard work from childhood—prepared me for this moment.
