Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Durrani.
Hi Sarah, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My journey into real estate is definitely not what I expected. After graduating with a finance degree, I imagined I’d become an accountant or work in commercial real estate. Residential wasn’t on my radar at all. When COVID hit, I was in the middle of interviewing with commercial brokers, and suddenly everything was put on pause. That unexpected shift pushed me to try residential real estate, and I’m so grateful it did — it’s turned into a career that feels deeply meaningful and energizing.
I also spent time overseas doing mission work, which shaped how I connect with people. Those experiences taught me patience, empathy, and how to truly listen — qualities that now guide how I support clients. I’ve learned that everyone has a unique story, and my job is to honor that by understanding their goals and helping them make confident, informed decisions.
In the beginning, I built my business one relationship at a time — one open house, one conversation, one client referral. I focused heavily on educating buyers and sellers instead of just trying to “get the deal done.” I walked people through contracts, timelines, negotiations, and market conditions so they understood every step and felt equipped to make smart choices. That educational approach helped me build trust early on and continues to be the foundation of how I work.
Today, I proudly serve clients in both the Houston and Austin areas, especially those navigating relocations, transitions, new construction, and first-time home purchases. My favorite part of what I do is learning about my clients’ hopes and dreams and creating a strategy that supports those goals. The relationships built along the way are what motivate me every day.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
When I started, I was building everything from scratch — learning the market, earning clients’ trust, and figuring out how to guide people through a major financial and emotional decision. There were moments when deals fell through or when I questioned whether I was on the right path. Some clients would walk into my open houses and assume I was too young to be knowledgeable, so I often had to earn credibility before even speaking a word.
Those experiences pushed me to become a stronger communicator. They taught me to slow down, listen, and ask the right questions so I could truly understand what each client needed. Over time, I learned how to navigate challenges calmly and clearly, explain complex steps in a way that feels accessible, and advocate confidently on behalf of the people I work with.
Looking back, every obstacle helped shape the business I have today — one rooted in trust, transparency, and education.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Sarah Durrani Realtor ?
I’m Sarah Durrani, a residential real estate agent serving the Houston and Austin markets. I specialize in relocations, transitions from one life stage to another, new construction, first-time home purchases, and helping clients smoothly transition into a home that fits their evolving needs.
What makes my approach different is my commitment to transparency and education. Transparency, for me, means walking clients through every detail — contracts, timelines, market trends, builder incentives, and negotiation strategies — so nothing feels confusing or hidden. My clients often tell me they leave the process understanding far more about buying or selling a home than they expected, and that is something I’m especially proud of.
My role is to simplify what can feel overwhelming. I’m here to read the contracts, break things down clearly, anticipate questions, and handle the complexity so my clients can focus on the excitement of their move rather than the stress of the transaction.
I want readers to know that my work is personal. I care deeply about the people I serve, and I measure success by the clarity, confidence, and peace of mind they gain throughout the process.
What does success mean to you?
I define success by the impact I have on the clients I serve. Success, to me, is when someone feels informed, supported, and confident at every step of their home-buying or selling journey. It’s when a client tells me they finally understand the process, or that the experience felt far more manageable than they expected because I walked them through the details and handled the behind-the-scenes complexity.
Success shows up in relationships built on trust, in clients returning or referring others because they felt genuinely cared for, and in knowing that I helped someone make a well-informed decision with clarity and confidence. That’s the kind of success that lasts.
