I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
A senior cardiologist initially brought me on board to assist with his practice because he was too busy to manage all of his patients. However, once I arrived, I discovered that he expected me to help patients without insurance and cover for him when he wanted time off. When I confronted him about this arrangement, he became displeased and started charging me an excessive amount for overhead expenses. A few months later, he asked me to leave his office so he could bring in another cardiologist to join him.

Despite this setback, I quickly became busy because I didn’t rely solely on the cardiologist who brought me in. Instead, I began offering my services to three other hospitals where he was not providing care. I started recruiting cardiologists and initially brought in several who built their practices with my help, only to leave and start their own practices in town.

Eventually, about 21 years ago, I was able to establish a stable group of four cardiologists, which is where we are at present.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
We have successfully grown our practice, which comprises four busy cardiologists caring for thousands of patients. We specialize in general, invasive, and interventional cardiology, providing a comprehensive range of cardiovascular services and procedures. Our practice serves as a one-stop shop where patients can undergo necessary diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including heart stent placement, pacemaker and defibrillator implantation, all in the office.

I make myself available to all my patients at all times, ensuring each one has my cell and home numbers. I see patients at a moment’s notice, without an appointment or referral, unless their insurance company mandates one. We take pride in being a walk-in cardiology clinic, offering care when patients need it and at their convenience, not just ours.

I have completed 50 years in the medical field, and I’m planning to practice Cardiology for at least 50 more years.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
Our goal is to try to prevent the number one killer in our country and in the world, which is strokes and heart attacks, whereby 70% of the people in our country die from strokes and heart attacks, and 500,000 people die suddenly in our country every year with sudden cardiac death from a heart attack, and we would like to prevent that. We strive very hard to stop that, and we are incredibly successful in preventing heart attacks and strokes. Of course, we treat heart rhythm problems and blockages of the carotid arteries supplying blood to the brain, as well as blockages in the leg arteries, restoring blood flow to the leg when there are any blockages and preventing amputations from lack of blood supply.
